Dr. Wong at the Bowie location is a horrible doctor!! I had my first appointment for hip pain 0n 16 Oct 2025 due to anterior total hip replacement about a year ago which aggravated the lateral femoral nerve and my surgeon suggested a referral to pain management for a possible nerve ablation procedure. Dr. Wong focus was not on my hip but on a past 2023/2024 MRI of my spine! I told him that I had a right hip resurfacing done about 10 years ago add the second one done about a year ago on my left hip, which corrected my lower back problem! He did nothing to address my level eight left hip pain that I was there for and focused on an old MRI wanting to send me to one of his physical therapist (Bezak chiropractic and rehabilitation) that he said he does business with them all the time (maybe a close friend or family member because they're referring unnecessary referrals which should be investigated). He was not very attentive and made an appointment to come back in October for the hip, but in the interim gave me another referral for an MRI of my spine!!!! I told him I have no pain in my spine. It's not my spine. My spine is fine!! this doctor does not care about pain management for patient in his care!!!!!! I canceled all appointments moving forward stay away from this doctor!
It's just a money thing. They really don't help at all. Almost impossible getting someone on the phone, and they will call you literally 30 minutes prior to your appointment with some bull to cancel. All they want is $$. They couldn't even give me a fax number for a referral to be sent. Not answer the phone, call you with unclear and unprofessional messages. THEY WILL LITERALLY HAVE YOU CANCEL ALL YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR NOTHING!!!
I went to National Pain and Spine for medication management that had gotten worst. When I needed pre authorization for my insurance company do to changes in my medication their is no one not even the doctor who prescribed your medicine will not call your insurance company nor the pharmacy in order for it to be filled. I honestly don't think the doctor or the people who answer the phones really care about their patient because if they did they would have someone in their office who could take care of calling your insurance company and your pharmacy to make sure you have your meds that you need. This place only wants to do surgery on your spine to make more money they don't care about your pain levels or what's going on with you and your choices given to you in the beginning it's all about doing surgery.
Initially I thought that this was good option to help resolve pain but I now realize that it's about $$ and doing ineffective procedures and use of false documentation post procedural (stating my blood pressure was taken and monitored post procedure when it was not done not once!). The aftermath of the ganglion procedure WAS AWFUL!!!! I was then given steroids and NOT warned that my blood pressure would increase to near stroke levels. I should've done more research. If you're considering this as an option: DON'T!!!!!!! DON'T, DON'T AND DON'T!
The worst experience. They just care about billing your insurance and collecting copays not actually treating your pain effectively. I received a procedure and tried to call to report complications and was unable to reach anyone. They sent a text to follow up with a non working number. I called the main number and left several messages and was told it would be sent to the office manager for urgent followup , however, no one called the entire weekend. I went in today and they refused to see me and discharged me in pain with no assistance. DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY!!!!
I have been going to National Pain And Spine since approximately 2014/2015 due to a severe back injury. National Pain And Spine has, during the course of my tenure; "sold" and "upsold" me, every course of treatment in their wheelhouse. (kind of like would you like fries to go with that burger). After their ability to treat me successfully had expired, I was referred to a spinal surgeon. I then had unsuccessful spinal fusion. My surgeon suggested I go back to National Pain And Spine, and I did. I then discussed a couple of their recommendations: surgery to install a spinal stimulator, and surgery to install a Pain Pump. First on the menu: spinal stimulator implant, unsuccessful. Next menu item: Intrathecal pain Pump implant. In 2019. This course of treatment offers some relief, but is far from a successful solution. I still required prescriptions, as well as a walker or wheelchair in order to achieve some limited mobility. And since that installation, every two months, I have to travel 3 hours each way, to National Pain And Spine from my Virginia home, to the Oxon Hill, MD location to have my pain pump refilled and physically pick up my prescriptions. No problem. Which brings me to two months ago, my National Pain And Spine doctor, retired. No biggie, I've been treated by the Doctor who originally installed all my devices at Orin Hill as well as their NP's and PA's. Fast forward to yesterday...... now this is where this story gets really good, because this is what made the lightbulb appear above my head, realizing the majority of the medical people at National Pain And Spine have been simply prescribing "solutions" in order to generate $$$$$. Yesterday I was seen by PA or NP Orin (Greene?). He refilled my pump and then proceeded to tell me that I would not be receiving my prescriptions at this visit, I would have to book a follow up appointment, a "medication appointment" in order acquire them. I advised him that I travel 6 Hours round trip every two months, and now he's telling me I need to come back in a day or two for another appointment? WTF? According to Orin, this was their new policy. I told him that I have had every procedure that National Pain And Spine offers and have always received my hard copy paper prescriptions with my Pain Pump refill. The reason I need hardcopies is, for some reason the Oxon Hill Maryland location is unable to figure out how to electronically send prescriptions successfully to Virginia, without repeated, follow up phone calls to their staff. And by the way, good luck, actually getting through to a human on the phone for any reason at ANY of their offices. This has been so much of a problem in the past, that we were provided the cell phone number of the office manager to correct the error. Orin also told me that I would not be provided any hardcopy prescriptions any longer, every prescription would be electronically sent. So to clarify, Orin @ National Pain And Spine is telling me that I have to book another appointment in a couple of days and drive 3 hours each way so that I can come to their offices so Orrin can push a button to electronically send my prescriptions to my home pharmacy? I advised him in no uncertain terms, that this was unacceptable. I was livid. Upon my telling him that there was no way I was going to do this, and that I would find an alternate doctor within the National Pain And Spine umbrella or outside of it. Orin said to me, (my husband was in the room to witness this entire conversation), "IF YOU ARE THREATENING ME, I WILL SEE TO IT THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A FOLLOW-UP PRESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT". WHAT?? I just told you I will not be coming back for a follow-up appointment . I told him it was quite obvious what National Pain And Spine was trying to do, DUEL BILL MY INSURANCE COMPANIES, and this was all about money, and lining their greedy pockets. I went to the front desk and told them there will never be another appointment with National Pain And Spine, no follow-up "prescription appointment", NO ANY appointments. I got in my car, called the company that manufactures my Pain Pump and told them what just happened to me. They provided me a list of doctors NOT in the National Pain And Spine FIRM, and surprisingly much closer to my home!!! Buh Bye National Pain in the...
Dr Mangal male young Dr . His bedside manners on a scale of 1 the 10 was a 12. First time getting injections in my back and he talked to me like I was a friend asking me about my friends and family. Had any questions he said you sure you good. I haven't had a great doctor visit like that in a long time. Actually the entire staff was great. Keep doing a good not Only that sometime we don't feel well ,but bedside manners make the pain a little easy. Your 11:30 epidural patient LW.
