List of Shoshana B. Cohen's Reviews
Professional and very helpful
Excellent experience from start to finish! The staff was professional and friendly. Dr. Cohen was engaging, very knowledgeable and thorough. Dr. Cohen took the time to listen to my concerns and explain my eyewear options. I left the appointment knowing I had a detailed examination.
Very professional yet personable. Great place for anyone who needs medical eye care. Will also prescribe glasses too.
The staff here are extremely condescending and as unhelpful as they can muster. It feels like it's actually the goal. Every question is met with utter contempt for having dared to waste thier time. They talk down to you, and if you dare request better service, you will pay a price, sacrificing more of your time, and an even higher level of hostility than when you were please and thank-you-ing it. It's extremely uncomfortable. I think they were not instructed that, we do not owe them our business, they have to earn it, through kindness, diligence, and overall courteousness.
I got my first pair of glasses at the Baltimore site when I was 9 years old. I've been at patient of Barenburg for many years. Excellent service. Great staff. I now see Dr. Cohen at the Pikesville office.
I’ve been a customer at Barenburg (B) for maybe 6+ years and have always felt comfortable ONCE in exam room with Dr. Cohen and her eye exam assistant..very pleasant. However, I’m no longer a customer because of others that you have to come in contact/communication with before and after my exams..billing and check out lady who goes over your coverages and any payments for glasses. So first the billing. I’ve received bills from 4 years ago twice claiming I owe a copay. After contacting billing and B office the first time about a year ago with my receipt of payment I was informed it was taken care of. About three weeks ago I received another bill with my 10/5/18 appt stating I owed that copay and it would be sent to collections. I contacted B and had enough so I asked to speak with Dr. Cohen. She apologized and assured me that this would be last time I had to deal with this. On all occasions except my last on 10/5/18 the check out lady is passively rude, if that makes since. I always leave asking myself, “did I do something wrong or is she just having a bad day?” It’s not the most pleasant ending transition but I kept going. Today was last straw. On 10/5/18 i paid 50% deposit on glasses and really just forgot I had them waiting for me. So today I go to pick them up and was asked if anybody called me because my plan didn’t cover glasses this soon (guess I had to wait another year). I informed a staff that no one contacted me and if insurance wasn’t going to cover I’d like a refund. She went over their “no refund” policy but given circumstances I felt a refund was appropriate. But kicker was I’d have to wait for owner to sign off and then request be sent to corporate and that could take 4-6 weeks. 4-6 weeks?!?! I was told Dr. Cohen is unavailable for the day (it was close to 6pm). But to my surprise out walks dr. Cohen so I asked to speak with her. Staff went and privately had convo but didn’t oblige my request. She returned and stated dr. Cohen agreed to sign off on refund request but refund could still take several weeks because it has to go to corporate. Asked if it could be expedited given the circumstances but no definitive answer given. I apologize for this long review but thought it important to share. I took the checkout unpleasantries in stride but reason for a low rating is because you don’t mess with a customers money, period.
Great services and friendly professional peeps.👼💛😃💙😄😀💜💚😁❤😂💖😅
Horrible! My wife came in for a routine eye exam and was strong armed to pay a second $50 copay for a contact lenses fee to get her prescription. Never explained this up front and they refuse to refund
I totally agree with the reviewer that claims that Dr. Cohen supports and never reprimands her downright rude and lying front line staff. The particular staff in question are: Cheryl, Tracy, and Lisa. They will not forward messages to Dr. Cohen, will lie about when a new eyeglass order will be ready or if incorrect will BS about why the glasses are wrong. Plus, their interpersonal skills are just plain rude. This place was much better when run by previous doctors.
Good doctor but bad at running a business. Guess if enough business/ money coming in means staff can treat whomever they want how they want, perhaps even dependent on how they look. As soon as she provides me a copy of my chart I will no longer subject myself to the potential abuse of her staff when I go in. Ten years with her and still such unhappy employees - you never know going in if that dau one will snap (and continue snapping while you are trying to spend money). Not worth it.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
