List of J. Michael Brooks's Reviews
Dr. Brooks is the best!!!
Dr. Brooks is an excellent doctor, caring and competent. Any issues I have with the office have got to do with trying to access them because of the “modern” communication, billing procedures. I miss the relationships aspect of his office from back in the good old days. It just seems to be the nature of all modern medicine.
Dr. Brooks has been my doctor for most of the last 18 years, except when he became an administrator for the hospital briefly. He has always provided excellent care, by listening carefully to me first before making his own assessment regarding any health issue I may have had, and always finding a way to get me back on the mend. I am very pleased that he has returned to private practice and will continue to serve as my doctor.
Dr. Brooks abandoned my father as a patient without even a warning. He had a brain bleed a year and a half ago and could have easily been one of Dr. Brook's most vulnerable patients. Only on one occassion did we not show for an appointment, which was when I was in the hospital for a kidney stone, and I was his ride and only way of communicating with the office. All other appointments were gone to, rescheduled, or cancelled days in advance. His last one we rescheduled when his sister passed away, and we had to leave state for her funeral. We moved it to the following week, which was kindly accomodated by the receptionist. Unfortunately, the day before the follow-up apt regarding his brain scan, we were told Dr. Brooks directed the front desk to call and inform me that "he's dropping my Dad as a patient" and "not to come in tomorrow". She continued stating my Dad has 1 month of medication left, so I will need to find another doctor within 30 days. She apologized for not sending a letter prior to this call. Even she was appalled with the brutality of it. I was in tears, as I know how difficult it is finding a doctor accepting patients in this area, and my dad is not someone who can go without a doctor! He takes medications (for pain, blood pressure, and depression) daily that are needed, and Dr. Brooks didnt even have the decency to refill them to get him by until another doctor could see him. No other doctors were accepting patients, but one office was so sickened over what happened with my Dad that the supervisor agreed to take him in. Thank you, God! He will be going without medications for 10 days, however, and I will be making this known to the medical board and administrator. This is an abuse of power, patient abandonment, and an act demonstrating lack of fundamental human decency. In my opinion, physicians like Dr. Brooks shouldn't be in practice. His behavior shows he is in it for money and does not require himself to meet even the most basic patient needs. He lacks professionalism to conduct himself respectfully or thoughtfully, and I am honestly unsure if this is just a result of carelessness and ignorance on his part, or if he truly just does not care about his patients. This entire medical experience is unlike anything I have ever heard of or could possibly imagine. And, Calvert Health has him on their advertisements. I believe they will eventually regret that. So, to all...my recommendation is to take the time to find another physician and perhaps another practice.
i love dr. brooks. i've been going to him for 20+ years. he is always caring and concerned for your health. i wouldn't think of going to anyone else.
This so called doctor will tell you lies and has no concern for your health!
I have found Dr. Brooks to be a caring competent family doctor. I never feel rushed in his presence. He is not a doctor that tries pills at you for a solution but helps you do the things you need to do for better health.
One of the best practices in the county.
My appointment was with Dr. Batong, I have been a patient of Dr, Brooks for about 20 years, I found the practice is not what it was when I first started with them. I am not able to see Dr. Brooks and now they have a policy that family members may not accompany patients for visits. Not very family friendly for a family practice. My wife was told this was Dr. Brooks policy and only called in at the end of the appointment even after I asked that she be there during the exam.
I saw Dr. Brooks, he is compentant doctor but seemed stand-offish, and uncaring, he never looked at me while I was in his office, had his back to me while he made his diagnois, left instructions and just left--also my mom could not get appointment with any doctor there because "He does not accept Medicare" but my mom could see the nurse, and his office person Michelle is the one who told me this. The assistants are really nice but I am going elsewhere...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
