Drove an hour and half from Hagerstown for a post op visit in Greenbelt. I arrived early and was seen early by nurse, but then sat for just under three hours waiting to be seen by the doctor. By this time pain meds started wearing off and had to ask for some Motrin. NO ONE came by during that time to make mention that there was going to be a long wait time or offer apologizes. At one point (1.5 hours in) I got up and asked the nurse who originally saw me, what was going on and she asked me to wait a minute. She returned to tell me she saw my name and I was next. I waited another hour watching as others went in before me. One final thing was there was no coffee, only a hot water machine. Surly for the cost-of-service and those waiting, K Cup Coffee could be provided. Something other then hot water! Although the doctor did apologize and except responsibility for his lateness, as I told him there was NO EXCUSE for someone not communicating. As I told him, if I had been 3 hours late for my visit they would have asked me to come back another day.

Dr Desai is excellent. However, I am sorry that I cant write anything quite so positive about the offices and the patient experience generally. I've been to two of the group's sites on multiple occasions and in all cases the waiting time has been unnecessarily long. If appointment times later in the afternoon were an option, such that the waiting time between initial test procedures and the ultimate consultation with doctor could be reduced, I'd be very happy. Judging by the comments here, it seems this others have the same perspective.

I place a lot of confidence in Dr. Desai. He works in a very busy office and it does take a long time to see him.when I do get my visit time, I feel like I'm getting his personal best. I like his office manners.

I have only want to complain about the retina group of Washington they need to move people quickly in and quickly out 2 1/2 three hours is unacceptable to me and most of the people that go there and it’s expressed in their faces. getting your eye exam and pictures taken it’s no problem but it’s the wait time to get into the doctors sitting area and then more time waiting. Retina needs to take the stress off of their doctors by allowing only so many appointments in so they could just move each clients in and out without a long wait time. It’s all about making money {greed)

It doesn't seem possible to get in and out in under 2 hours, but the care from (most of) the staff and Dr. Desai is superb.

I count myself extremely fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Desai. From the moment my vision problem (vitreomacular traction) emerged (October 2019), Dr. Desai's calm demeanor coupled with his experience and knowledge inspired confidence. He has a conservative approach, which set well with me. He is serious and succinct. Every examination was done conscientiously and thoroughly. He never rushed. This may make for longer wait times, but for me, the level of care that he shows his patients justifies the waiting room sit. He made no promises but stuck to statistics when I probed for what would happen with my eye. He took my case one step at a time. He did not get ahead of what was going on. I am an optimistic person and always felt that my vitreous would eventually detach completely and normally. Dr. Desai never promised that would happen. It didn’t. I ended up with a macular hole. Dr. Desai performed my vitrectomy. He was intensely focused during the surgery. I followed his instructions and ended up with a superb outcome: 20/20 vision with an insignificant amount of distortion. I am thankful that he is my doctor. He is a humble man: when I credit him with my great outcome, he deflects the praise back to me saying I am a good healer. I am extremely grateful to this wonderful doctor. I trust Dr. Desai explicitly and recommend him with full confidence.

There is some great staff at RGW -- Raoul and Krystal were super-helpful. Dr. Desai did his best to see us on schedule, but there was a long wait that was challenging for my elderly dad.

Dr. Desai is very knowledgeable and did a great job at my two previous appointments with him. The problem at RGW is with those who book appointments. They schedule far more patients than the doctors can see in a reasonable amount of time. My previous two appointments took over two hours each (with waiting most of the time). Yesterday, the preliminary parts of the exam took over one hour (which was mostly sitting in the waiting room) and then I was told that were six people ahead of me and it would be at least an additional two hours before Dr. Desai could see me. I then left without seeing him. None of the other professional medical offices I deal with treat patients with this much unconcern for their time---cardiologist, dentist, primary care, cardiac surgeon. While I was at RGW yesterday, there were several other waiting patients registering their concerns about the extremely long waiting times. To Dr. Desai's credit, he phoned me after seeing his afternoon patients to apologize for the wait situation I found that day at RGW. I told him that I did not fault him for this, but those who set up appointments.

Dr Desai was thorough. Wait was very long.
