I came there because I was afraid of losing my hearing as I had chickenpox. The doctor just took a look at my ear and didn't know what was happening and referred me to do a hearing test with an audiologist. The office called me later to cancel the appointment because they were afraid of me spreading chickenpox. I ended up finding a different doctor and started from scratch. I got a bill of $641 later on!!! Does this doctor have any mercy??
Dr. Murphy is the best EVER!!I had vertigo and he was extremely helpful!!! Very smooth with the different techniques to help get rid of this awful condition.
I used to recommend Dr Murphy to anyone seeking an ENT as I'd visited a few times over the past 10 years and really liked the guy. He was a pro and nice. Perfect. Recently I needed some gunk cleaned out of my ears and made an appointment. They said I was a new patient because it had been over three years, but they never told me there was a huge new charge for that that my insurance would deny. So I paid $600 out of pocket for a 5 minute ear cleanse. When I got the bill I called to make sure it was correct, but they disavow any blame and said I had to call Stanford Health billing dept. Hiding behind the med group billing. Nice. When I asked for Dr Murphy to call me to discuss they said they'd pass along the message. Suffice it to say, I never got a phone call. Weak sauce, to use a little slang.
I had nose bleeds for nearly a year, finally decided to go see Dr. Murphy. He diagnosed the problem, cauterized the blood vessels using a chemical on a swab, never felt a thing. Problem diagnosed and fixed in like 20 minutes, painless and quick! If I ever have any other ear nose or throat problems I won't drag my feet so long before I go in.
Seeing Dr. Murphy for sleep apnea & he is the best- very patient, understanding, and explains things well & reasonably. A family member saw him as well for nose surgery & he was great.
Doc Murphy is skilled. Get over getting an appointment as long as when you get one the Dr. knows what he is doing. Thank you for your help!
Great doctor. Surgeon, and person. .
It's been years since I had my tonsillectomy from Dr. Murphy and all I can say is thank you. It was life changing. I've had tonsil stones since before I was a teenager and they have been horrible. To the point where every day I needed to carve out time to deal with them and special tools to deal with them, not to mention the smell and prolonged sicknesses associated with tonsils filled with this garbage. One operation and utter, bliss. My colds/sore throats have diminished dramatically and when I do get sick, it lasts 1/5th to 1/10th the time. Thank you Dr. Murphy!
I sat and waited for him about an hour and he never showed up. My appointment was 12:30 he showed up 1:30. He came in with an attitude telling me that he had an emergency. When I was walked into the room I saw him sitting in his office so I did not understand what kind of emergency he was talking. He didn't review my chart and he was rude and intimidating. I felt as if he was about to attack me. He then told me that it was best for me to leave. I reported him to Standford Hospital.
I saw Michael Murphy today. I had to have a friend take two hours off from his work to take me to Murphy's office. I sat and waited for him about an hour and he never showed up. So I went to the front desk and told them that my appointment was 12:30 and it is now 1:30. I was convinced to go back to the room that Murphy will show up. He came in with an attitude telling me that he had an emergency. When I was walked into my room I saw him sitting in his office so I did not understand what kind of emergency he was talking about. He wanted to know why I was there and I told him that he should have looked at my chart before seeing me. He had a condescending and intimidating attitude toward me. I felt as if he was about to attack me. He then told me that it was best for me to leave and I did because I was not comfortable with him by then. I contacted Stanford hospital and informed them of his rude behavior. He needs to be sent to some sensitivity classes and learn how to deal with patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
