I have had the pleasure of knowing and been a patient of Dr. Fayez Shawl for 26 years. My first encounter with Dr. Shawl I was referred by my Family Doctor to Dr. Shawl... That referral saved my life! After a thorough office visit and diagnostic procedures, it became apparent to Dr. Shawl that both of my Carotid Arteries were virtually completely blocked " I was a proverbial walking time bomb" hours, minutes, days away from a fatal health event. Over the years, Dr. Shawl has diagnosed and successfully stented several blocked arteries in my heart (LAD and RCA) with no complications and also performed angioplasty in my heart as well! Dr. Shawl and his team, in the office and the Catheterization Laboratory are all top flight phenomenal professionals totally focused on the patient and family, just as Dr. Shawl is. Without a doubt, I know that I'm here now, writing this review all because of the amazing care and innovations in Cardiac Interventional Medical Procedures Dr. Shawl has perfected and shared across the world! Our family was shocked a couple of years ago to find that my elderly husband's health, in fact his life, was suddenly in jeopardy. It seemed that a mass of deposit in my husband's right carotid artery had broken loose and was jutting out ready to break off, most certainly causing a severe stroke. This required immediate intervention to insert a stent in order to avert catastrophe. This is the type of surgery that few doctors would attempt to do because in this case severe scoliosis made gaining normal access through the groin impossible. Access would have to be done through the much smaller blood vessels in his arm. Very very risky and difficult to do in anyone of advanced age. Dr. Shawl, everything you want a doctor to be, accomplished the nearly impossible, and my husband is enjoying a full life now thanks this doctor's amazing skill and determination. He is a marvel, there is no one like him, and we will be forever grateful.

Being sick can be scary. Finding a Physician that you can trust....difficult. Giving your trust to someone else over your health outcomes takes courage. I am fortunate to have found Dr. Shawl. He can be trusted with difficult, complicated and scary heart disease. Grateful to this fine gentleman.

Doctor Shawl is the best. Have been seeing him for 38 years. After a stress test he called me said I needed to have further study. I had a stent installed in 2006. So far everything is AOK. I would recommend him to everyone who has Cardiac issues.

Dr. Shawl has saved my life with 3 procedures since 1999 after I had already a heart bypass surgery. First he opened my Left Main and its junction along with RCA when all others would have mandated a second heart bypass. His knowledge, patience, professionalism, genuine patient caring, and ability to explain the most complex issues in simple English is beyond any rating system or words that I can use for praise. I am alive because of Dr. Shawl; He is the finest doctor and surgeon I have ever known in my 85 years of life. Washington Adventist Hospital which is now called Adventist White oak Medical center is due to him a world class place and that Hospital’s cardiac department is a great place with very high technology. He is the absolute best that you can get to operate on your heart from arteries to heart Valves without opening the chest, especially now with his new procedure TAVR, a device that is inserted into a blocked aortic heart valve without opening the chest .He did this TAVR procedure on my best friend and neighbor who is 88 year old and we walk every morning together praying for his good health. I just wish there were more doctors like Dr. Shawl. Besides being on top of his game he is down to the earth and truly cares about his patients. Dr. Shawl is a superb interventionist. I have been seeing him at the Adventist Hospital in Washington, DC since 2004 and have gotten excellent care and excellent results. He is a very thoughtful physician and extremely accessible. If anyone I know needs an angiogram or a PCI, Dr. Shawl is the first physician I would recommend. Dr. Shawl is just amazing.
