My spouse and I have been seeing her to help us through a difficult transition in our lives. She is a very kind and astute person. She picked up on my depression very quickly, and despite my initial (strong) reluctance to try antidepressant medication, she gently encouraged me with warmth but also knowledge of the different medications out there. She also recommended a psychiatrist nurse practitioner (Cindy Papendick, also wonderful!), and I feel this move literally saved my life. Now that the depression is being treated, I am seeing drastic improvements in my overall well- being and in my marriage. There is still more work to do, but I am very thankful to have Dr. Wiinamaki as our guide. Having a counselor with a Christian perspective is also very important to me, however, she is open-minded about varying viewpoints and worldviews. I cannot speak highly enough about her.
