List of Alan H. Shikani's Reviews
I would not recommend Dr. Shikani, Dr. Shikani misdiagnosed me. When you have a debilitating issue, a misdiagnosis can be crucial in getting the care you need in a timely manner. Bluecross also needed more than his handwritten prescription for vestibular therapy but his office would not provide the documentation, sticking me with $600 of insurable costs to pay out of pocket.
I had a large septal perforation that caused continued nasal infections, several other ENTs said they couldn't help with it. He followed through did an amazing job, and its healed better than I ever thought possible, his beside manner is brisk but his knowledge and skill is the real deal. His staff is friendly and proactive.
I can't express enough how wonderful, and so grateful of the work Dr. Shikani did in rebuilding my seriously damaged nose insides. For the firs time since very young, right after surgery I could really breath, it may have been a little rough healing and about a year to be a pliable nose again but Dr. Shikani and staff was always gentle. Also I'd like to praise Dr. Gol his partner for the fantastic rebuilding and restoring the hearing to our Novice, when other doctors said it wasn't possible.
This guy randomly called me saying I had called him. He was very aggressive about it and made me uncomfortable. News flash, my dude: scammers exist and they steal people's numbers to use for their scams. Why would a MN number call you? I live halfway across the country from Maryland. But I'll be sure to let my coworkers in D.C. know to avoid you.
Dr. Shikani basically save my Life. I had a severe Sinus infection, with super swelling. I also had H1N1 at the time. Dr. Shikani and his team did not hesitate to go in and perform emergency surgery. I was told that things could go either way, due to severe nature of the circumstances. Dr.Shakani and his team performed a successful surgery. I have been going to him for well over 10 years for annual check ups. I am always treated with respect. Please go see this Man if you have sinus issues. You will truly feel better.
Great doctor and the staff are too wouldnt be treated anywhere else
Dr. Shikani is one of the best ENT doctors ever! A couple of years ago my husband had a severe and rare sinus infection and also had the H1N1 virus. My husband literally almost died! Dr. Shikani and his team took EXCELLENT care of my husband. They explained their treatment plan to me and my family in detail , share the risks of the surgery, and the expected outcome. He has excellent bedside manner and always has time for his patients. I also have used Dr. Shikani as well. I had accompanied my husband to a routine follow up visit with Dr. Shikani and mentioned that I had trouble hearing from my left ear. I told him that I had made an appointment to come back and see him but he address and resolved the issue right there on the spot. I would highly recommend Dr. Shikani if you are in need of a ENT Dr., please contact him; you will not be disappointed.
I have been to several ent specialist in my life and Dr Shikani was by far the best experience with such a fragile situation. The office staff is friendly and helpful. I showed up two hours early to one of my visits and they laughed with me, and fit me right in. I arrived at the Lutherville office in the worst ear pain I have ever been in. Dr. Shikani took a look and informed me of the immediate plan and I knew right away i was in good hands. He continued too treat this ear fungus and infection over the course of two weeks with multiple visits and treatments. It was incredibly painful, he knew that and we worked together.I appreciated that and if I ever need something that would fit in his field, he would be my first choice. As of now I am clear of the infection and pain.
Aggressively shoved a flashlight up my nose and gave me a lot of pain. When I expressed that I was in a lot of pain, he simply had no reaction and kept going. Also he didn't even seem to be looking at my nose. There was literally no good reason for him to have done that and my nose is still sore 10 days later since he seemed to have irritated/damaged my nerves (another doctor told me this). He demonstrated no empathy whatsoever and was the most rude doctor I've ever had. He even left the door open, which showed that he didn't respect my privacy. I think he purposely enjoys giving people pain since when I looked at reviews I wasn't the only one experiencing this. Do yourself a favor and go to another doctor that actually has some empathy. It's clear to me that he doesn't care about people and only cares about the money. Absolutely vile. Update: He called me after this review and tried to blame another doctor and acted like he didn’t do anything. I told him that was incorrect and that the other doctor had always been kind to me. Now it just makes it worse how he tried to blame an innocent doctor. He then tried to justify his actions by claiming that he did an “endoscopy” to look into my nose but it was not because he literally just used a plain flashlight with no camera or microscope. If you shove a flashlight deep up someones nose, theres no way you can see anything. And my nostrils are very small so the size of my nostril was smaller than the flashlight. He didn’t even try to stretch my nostril apart to see anything. He simply just shoved a flashlight up my nose for no good reason. When I expressed I was in a lot of pain, he didn’t even care or apologize and he kept shoving it in harder.
great doctor , he is diamond

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
