We met Dr. Alevizatos when my mother ended up at Good Sam Hosp with a blocked kidney. THey put a drain put in her side with a bag attached. He told us that it had lost 90% function and needed to be removed. At the follow-up visit he was very patient with Mother when she insisted that he was not taking her kidney and that she could heal it by taking Aloe juice. He spent a long time with us, even taking us out to the computer to show us pictures of her kidney, compare it to the healthy kidney & explain why it needed to come out. He told her he did not want anyone to ever think he was twisting their arm and told her to try it for a month & come back. It took her a few months of living with a drain in her side before she finally accepted that she needed to have the kidney removed. Dr. A again took a lot of time explaining the surgery, possible complications & being patient with Mother. He was able to do the surg laproscopically and she has bounced back remarkably fast.
