Dr Parekh saved my life.
Emotionally and verbally abusive. She makes threats and caused me trauma. All of the other 1 star reviews are completely accurate in terms of the doctor she is. I am shocked that Mcclean has not fired her or that there haven’t been other lawsuits against her.
I can't express how poorly I was treated by Dr. Parekh. During my hospitalization I needed to go off of all of my medications in order to get on a new medication, which brought me to my lowest point emotionally. During this time, Dr. Parekh couldn't have been more callous, uncaring, and disrespectful. She made me feel as if I had no voice and said that the new medication that I went through all this trouble to get on "probably wouldn't have much of an effect anyway." As someone who was in a very dark and desperate place, this was devastating to hear. She never took the time to thoroughly assess me, meeting with me everyday for a max of ~3 min, and yet she flippantly diagnosed me with something that was ultimately proven to be grossly incorrect, having never consulted with my outpatient team. I will never forgive Dr. Parekh for the trauma she inflicted on me and my family. I sincerely hope McLean takes a hard look at its clinicians, as she is not only disrespectful to her patients, but irresponsible with her clinical decision-making.
Dr. Parekh is a horrible excuse for a physician. Disrespectful, dehumanizing, and frankly irresponsible when it comes to patient care. She spent max ~3min/day with me while I was hospitalized, barely got to know me at all, and then made a diagnosis that most clinicians don’t feel comfortable making unless the patient undergoes extensive evaluations. I didn’t agree with the diagnosis but was ignored, as I was “just" a psych patient (I am an Ivy League-educated medical student). I was also told not to have high hopes for my new meds as they “probably wouldn’t do much” for me- this is after all other treatments had failed me & I had no other options. After being discharged, I went to a residential program where I was given a thorough evaluation over an extended amount of time, which ultimately concluded that her diagnosis was wildly incorrect. I will never forgive Dr. Parekh for her cruelty, mistreatment, and lack of empathy. She is truly what is wrong with medicine today.
Dr. Parekh is a consummate professional and a top notch practitioner. She is clearly a high quality doctor and professional. Her care for my troubled teenager was outstanding....thoughtful, compassionate, smart. It was a sometimes difficult journey, but these things always are. Dr. Parekh knew exactly what she was doing and we all arrived at a better place. She is clearly an outstanding psychiatrist and psycho-pharmacologist. One wonders on some of the less than stellar comments here if psych patients become disillusioned if they are not given what they want or told what they want to hear. A lesser doctor may play to that, but not this one. I give doctor Parekh my highest recommendation.
Wonderful person and doctor.
I've been in treatment for almost 15 years with 3 hospitilizations. I've had to interactions with Dr. Parekh. Both almost a decade ago. But they still color how I see psychiatrists in general. Her treatment of me was both callous and dismissive. Going as far as implying I just couldn't handle college when I was being checked into a psychiatric unit after a suicide attempt. I would recommend that anyone considering Dr. Parekh as a potential provider think twice.
7 days on the STU in 2014 with Dr. Parekh- She should get credit for being a competent psychopharmacologist, but no more. I was admitted for severe anxiety, depression, insomnia which were precipitated by a traumatic event. I left the unit able to sleep again and w/ some improvement with other symptoms. Despite the mostly positive outcome, I've struggled with how poorly she seemed to interact with patients. She could really benefit from being more compassionate. Other STU staff were wonderful.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
