I have a small labral tear in my left hip and it was Dr. Hanley's opinion that I should just live with it regardless of the fact that I have done everything to try to function with it including injections and physical therapy and was referred BY another othopedist with a full set of arthroscopic MRI's and an X-ray. He treated me like hysterical woman, or maybe he just didn't appreciate my tattoos. He had a terrible, almost hostile bedside manner. He should retire.

I can’t speak to his ability as a surgeon, but he appears ready for retirement,burnt out from his factory style practice. No human connection, paid little attention to what I had to say. I would not see him again.

I am very pleased with the knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. Hanley. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Hanley listened to my concerns and outlined the risks of the surgery as well. Also, he set expectations for recovery post surgery. Throughout the process, Dr. Hanley was attentive, professional and provided excellent care. I could not have asked for a better doctor and surgeon.

Dr. Hanley recently replaced my left hip. I was up and walking that evening and discharged home the following day ! I would also encourage anyone with a joint replacement to definitely avail themselves of all physical therapy opportunities, as I did. Orthopaedic & Sports PT in the same Portland building is excellent. Dr. Hanley has been great and I would highly recommend him.

Headed for knee replacement and wouldn't have anyone else

Dr Hanley recently replaced my right knee. I was up and walking that evening and discharged home the next day! My post-op discomfort was well controlled and he listened to my concerns regarding medication. I am now up and walking with a can and taking over the counter Tylenol as needed for discomfort. Dr Hanley has great repore with both patient and their family members. I would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

In 25 years I have had 5 surgeries with Dr. Hanley all done in a timely manner after having gone through conservative treatment with each. After surgery all problems were resolved and health returned to normal My husband has also had two total knee replacements with Drl Hanley. We are so satisfied with him that we hope he doesn't retire before we stop needing him!
