Davor Sklizovic's Online Review Report Card

Reading the reviews already posted I almost had to smile because the experiences detailed were so similar to my own. I too was yelled at for using Qtips. In my case, however, the criticism was valid as I'd managed to cause the skin inside my ear to bleed. So although I didn't enjoy the lecture I probably earned it. That said I found the doctor rather abrasive and I didn't trust his diagnosis. So I sought a second opinion in Bangor and was relieved to discover that said diagnosis was indeed incorrect. All told I wouldn't recommend this doctor.

Doctor Sklizovic NOT recommended... (heads up, long review) Like others, I would give less than one star if I could. I rarely leave reviews, let alone negative reviews, but in this case, I must. I waited for 6 months for this appointment (I understand the delay due to staff shortages) and dealt with uncomfortable symptoms for that whole time, only to arrive at my appointment and have Dr Sklizovic immediately scold me for trying to treat myself at home during the interim. He then barely examined me before completely dismissing my symptoms as being "all in my head" and that my "brain was making it up." He did not seem to care that I was able to explain exactly how I felt before the symptoms started, when they started, and how they had or had not changed since that time. He told me that everyone else in the world felt exactly like I did and that "its all totally normal" and "nothing is wrong" with me. Again, this is after barely looking at my ears, nose, and throat in an exam that couldn't have been longer than a minute or two. So now, I am many months out from the start time of my symptoms (which I believe could very well be an infection), and have had absolutely zero answers, relief, medication, or advocacy given to me by this doctor. In addition, I know two other people who have had similar, highly disappointing experiences with this provider - one who was completely misdiagnosed, and another who had actually *surgery* reccomended to them when all they ended up needing was an antihistamine. I have utilized the services at Northern Light for a long time, and have generally had good to great experiences with the other providers there. This is the first time in 35+ years that I have felt strong enough to write this type of review. As a well respected and reputable hospital, it feels to be a disservice to them to have someone practicing in this way at their institution. I not only will not be recommending Dr Sklizovic to anyone, but I will be sharing my experience and advocating for others to see a different doctor. *Please note that I did visit my PCP during the time between onset of symptoms and my visit to Northern Light, and they referred me to Dr Sklizovic for further consult* In hopes of all folks getting the care they need and deserve... -S.H. P.S. I was also scolded for using q-tips and was told that "if I'm lucky" my "very damaged" ears might heal "because I'm still young" but he "couldn't be sure".

This doctor tells it like it is and I appreciate that. He is pleasant and gets right to the point and offers the patient what options are available. I found him to be through and he did a fine job of removing my cancer on the first attempt. I would use him again if I needed to and recommend him to others.

Dr. Sklizovik is a very knowledgeable physician. He is very direct and professional, which I like. Some appear to have confused his directness with being rude. To the contrary, I want to clearly understand my medical issue; I'm not interested in having it understated. I would not hesitate to see him again.

If I could give ZERO I would!! On top of him yelling at me and telling me I’m “ruining my life” because I use occasional qtips - when I left the office for an ear infection I got a summary of the visit which listed obesity as a bullet point. I had just done IVF for two years and lost a pregnancy so I have a few extra pounds from it all. I can’t believe how incredible rude this doc is. Wouldn’t even listen to anything I said. Avoid at all costs!

Dr. Sklizovic is an excellent and skilled otolaryngologist. I have struggled with ear problems my whole life, and have seen so many specialists. I trust his management suggestions more than anyone I've seen in the past.

I have seen Dr. Sklizovic three times. He successfully treated my condition, discussed other ENT type concerns with me and we also had positive conversations about non-medical things in which we shared an interest. He is a great patient's doctor.

I am 83, and Doctor Sklizovic is the best ENT that I have ever used. His diagnoses and treatment protocols are 100% on. He takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. And he explains how my malady affects other aspects of my health and being. If I could give him 10 stars, I would.

Arrogant and condescending. Did not answer my questions - had no patience for them. Very abrupt, even rude. I did not follow through on his recommendations (orders) for further care which included having a savable tooth pulled ("immediately - it is now an emergency!")and having a CT scan which according to him might be a waste of time and money because of the tooth. I followed up with my PCP and am taking a less drastic approach to my care.

Abrupt, does not answer questions - really does not even give the opportunity to ask questions. Makes unilateral decisions about treatment/care without thought for a patient's financial means or insurance coverage. Appears to be practicing "defensive" medicine rather than making the patient the first priority. Horrible experience - will go to Bangor rather than see this man again.
