List of Mark Overton's Reviews
It took me a decade to find a Dr that would understand me and prescribe the CORRECT medication. I'm staying with Dr. Overton. It is worth the long waiting list to get into see him.
Dr. Overton is a very knowledgeable doctor. He is not a pill pusher. He always asks for my opinion before trying a new drug.
To be fair, my experiences with Dr. Mark Overton were as a person and not as a psychiatrist. He may truly stink as a psychiatrist because he is certainly doing some stinky stuff. But as a person, he gave me some of the best advice of my life and I share it with others to this day. On that day long ago, I wanted to know how I could possibly know what God's will is for me in my life. He told me that you just have to start moving in the direction you think you should go, and God will move you where He wants you to go. Helped change the course of my life entirely. That is the Mark Overton I know.
I would have to say that there are serious questions about this doctor’s knowledge, and ethics. This MD was my brother physician. My brother is mentally ill and lived at the Eagle Lake Nursing Home. I filed many complaints about my brother and the lack of care, negligence, etc. These complaints began more than twenty years ago. My brother suffered an ecoli infection because of improper care to his bedsores. He also suffered a stroke or stroke like incident when he was in his early 30s, this too was related to lack of care. Then he suffered various debilitating incidents, including another stroke about six years ago, and had to have a colostomy, two decades ago, as the direct result of the ecoli infection. I filed at least seven complaints with State of Maine Elder Care, and also Maine Board of Licensure. When my brother died a month ago, at the age of 59, I could not even get the Board of Licensure, the Attorney General’s office or the State Medical Examiners office to do an autopsy. I dont know how long Mark Overton was his MD, but i believe, having worked in mental health in the Boston area for more than a decade, that State of Maine and the MDs in charge of his care, are directly responsible for overmedicating him with psychiatric medications. I have never seen a person suffering from schizophrenia die in a nursing home, much less spend more than twenty years in a nursing home, as a direct result of lack of appropriate care. Unfortunately I could never do anything for my brother because I was not his guardian. If you have patients at the Mercy Nursing Home, beware! We should also ask why a nurse who had worked there for years committed suicide, a few years ago, with a gun.
perfect fit for me.
Dr. overton is a master of his craft, and excells in treating difficult patients who continue to fight their diagnoses despite their obvious flare ups.
Very Satisfied with Dr. Overton. Will continue to seek treatment with him and will refer anyone who askes. Very pleasant and knowledgeable! Left my appointment feeling reassured:-)
There are very little choices for health care providers in my area. After waiting NINE months to be seen by Dr. Overton, it was finally my time. I drove quite a distance to his office. Upon my arrival I was suddenly told that he would be meeting me at his newly refurbished office which was at a completely different location! After finding my way as a disabled and handicapped individual to this other location, I sat there waiting for one hour and fifteen minutes beyond my appointment time to be seen. Upon being seen, Dr. Overton greeted me with a stoned face. He did not make the slightest attempt at a smile. Upon sitting down, he then swiveled his chair and turned his back to me most of the time while in a monotone voice he asked me deeply personal questions. As I did my very best to answer his questions, Dr. Overton continued to fiddle with the the multiple computers which sat upon his new desk. This man is not only very arrogant but he is extremely disrespectful. I was treated as if I were some kind of insect and with a total disregard for common courtesy or any form of kindness. Dr. Overton seems to be devoid of any empathy and is about as warm as rock found in the Antarctic. I came to see him for medication control only to be left feeling as if I had been emotionally raped. As I asked for his help, he stated, "There is nothing that I can do to help you". Then why did this man choose to become a psychiatrist? I was left with absolutely no medications and no other resources to get them from. And I will have to pay for this hellish visit! This man should immediately lose his license to practice medicine. The way I was treated should be illegal! This monster of a man literally caused me much more harm than any good. Dr. Overton is a disgrace to his community, psychiatry and to the mental health field as a whole.
Dr. Overton actually took the time to listen to me,clarify my diagnosis and get me on the RIGHT medication, finally. We even went overtime. Excellent doctor if you can get in to see him. Highly recommended.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
