List of Jeffrey Doss's Reviews
This man is a flaming jackass with a god complex and no compassion whatsoever. If you wish to be treated with respect, please find another provider.
I, too, have issues with the staff and that previous negative review should have been directed towards the Oral Surgery clinic and not Dr Doss. When it comes to Dr Doss, he is a consummate professional. He is efficient, direct, well-mannered and has always treated me with the respect due a patient. I have seen him three different times over the last couple of years and I would have no hesitation recommending him to anyone. He has never been smug and has always taken the time to explain the procedure to me and answer any of my questions. I have a friend who lives out of state who is also an oral surgeon, and he highly recommended Dr Doss as a very proficient and capable doctor; quite possibly the best here in southern Maine. Dr. Doss keeps current by teaching other dentists and sugeons. Anyway, if you can hold your nose long enough to get past the billing and scheduling staff (they are MUCH better at the Biddeford office. Also, this doesn't include the nurses and Dr's assistant; they are top notch and I really like their amazing level of professionalism), you will not be disappointed with the work that Dr Doss does.
Dr Doss made me feel extremely comfortable and was very kind to me. He had a good sense of humor and made me feel a lot better about having a surgery done which normally would have terrified me.
Dr Doss gave me implants more than 20 years ago and I've never had any problem with them. I don't care about the bedside manners. I went there for the quality of work. And I got exactly what I wanted and needed. Now, my son of 42ish is getting his implants. Dr Doss is or has the right to be a little smug. Thank you Dr. Doss.
To start off with, This google account doesn't have my real name, to protect my privacy. . . . . . . . . . This "doctor" Doss is the most smug, arrogant jerk I've ever encountered in healthcare. The whole issue started when even after waiting 3+ weeks for my appt, I got a call THE DAY BEFORE, saying they didn't have any of my information from my referring PCP, and said they'd call and get it. Whose fault is that? I can't say. Could've been on either end, or both. . . . . . . I show up for my 1PM appt, and I'm asked to fill out paperwork that basically wanted the same information that they said they did get from my PCP. . . . . . . . . Finally, at 2:20 this clown comes in the room. Little did he know I was about to commend him for the work he did in other countries, after reading the framed articles in the lobby, but we didn't get that far. . . . . .One thing that many healthcare offices don't pay any attention to, is the fact that the patient is probably coming there with some anxiety over their issue, so the LAST thing they need to hear while waiting is the office staff giggling and talking about their funny facebook posts. I'm all for making sure your staff is comfortable at work, but that behavior is just completely unprofessional and insensitive to the patients. Just my opinion. . . . Anyway, he finally comes in the room, and we briefly greet each other, then I simply asked: "running a little behind today?" (we all know that even if you show up on time, there's going to be a little wait because of unexpected things doctors may have that day, but an hour an 20 minutes after my appointed time is ridiculous). . . . . . So he turns around with a reaction like he's special and I'm just a peasant, and smiles smugly while telling me he wasn't running behind. . . . I then simply stated that my appt was at 1PM. . . . . . He increased his arrogance and said: "you were told to come in at 1PM to fill out paperwork". . . .I was never told that, but I kept my thoughts to myself after getting a handle on his personality. . . . BUT, I do feel that as a patient, I've got every right to speak my mind as respectfully as I can, even if anxious and irritated. . . . . . He asked me to get in the chair, so I thought we were moving on, but I wanted to, and did, make a simple comment that it sounded like the staff were having a good time out there. . . . . . .At that point, this P.O.S. slaps me twice on my shin, gives me that repulsive smile smile again, and says: "you know what? have a nice day, I'm not going to see you" and walks out of the room. . . . . He obviously cares more about his staff being jovial, than his patients possible anxiety. What kind of "doctor" can you be if you can't handle a little non argumentative constructive criticism and you reject someone in need of urgent care that waited 3+ weeks to be seen? . . . . . .The worst kind, in my opinion. . . Those framed newspaper articles in the lobby looked old and they were yellowing, so that must've been in a past life when he had humility, and now he's devoid of that and acts like he's Gods gift to his profession. . . . . <----- END RANT.
To all parents of children with special needs and/or adults please be advised that if you are in the market for an oral surgeon who is compassionate and considerate, do NOT go to Dr Jeffrey B. Doss, DDS in South Portland, Maine. My husband and I brought our 17 year old son who has cerebral palsy for an initial consultation at his practice and Dr Doss refused to meet us or my son and told his staff to tell us that he would not treat him. Thank you, Dr Doss for letting us know up front what a disgraceful, shameful and insensitive doctor you are. We are outraged to say the least. This is illegal and very discriminatory! Please share. I do not want anyone else to go through such a horrid experience. What other words can I use to describe this experienceâ¦.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
