List of Wayne Piers's Reviews
The most incredible doctor. He is patient, honest, and an extremely knowledgable and understanding man.
ive had excellent experience with dr.piers.had a hip replacement
All went well. Dr. Wayne Piers did a fabulous job replacing my knee joint. Listens to concerns before and after surgery. A total success as the X-Rays have proven. Great alignment. His compassion and character are genuine!
Dr.Piers is a very caring and respectful dr. He was the only dr. who could diagnose my knee problems and understood how RA impacted it
He knows what he is doing, but he is moody. One visit, he is engaged and another visit, he is disengaged and abrupt in answering questions. Billing is not transparent and getting answers is difficult. Dr. Piers is not an employee of Mercy, so the billing systems don't "communicate". Between doctors' office and hospital billing, we wound paying more than expected. Our insurance company was even confused!
This man is incompetent. I had severe arthritis in my knee and could barely walk, he performed arthroscopy which made absolutely no difference. Later, when I asked about Synvisc injections, he said that was only for arthritis. He forgot I had it. When I asked about a knee replacement, he said "you don't take something beautiful and replace it with something artificial." And a replacement is not done for pain. I have heard from several PT's that he is incompetent. He wasted a year of my life.
I went to Dr. Piers through a referral from my PCP a few years ago and he was terrible! My finger had started to heal and he tried to re-break it on the side of his table. He couldn't do it, thank goodness, and sent me to another Dr. that said he wouldn't be doing me any favors to try and re-break it and if he did it would be surgery, not the side of a table. I would never recommend this doctor.
I started seeing Dr. Piers before he joined Maine Ortho. The experience was completely different, infinitely better. The administration and beaurocracy at Maine Ortho is the worst! I am looking into another provider because of this.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
