Anne Van Hengel's Online Review Report Card

This lady is a piece of work! I was transferred from intermed urgent care to Maine med. after the nurses got me set up she walked in and asked me how I got to Maine med. I didn’t know what she meant. I told her intermed urgent care sent me - they asked if I preferred Maine med or mercy and I said maine med. she looked at me and said “they did not tell you to come here - they said go get more fluids at Brighton urgent care”. Ummm. No they definitely didn’t because the doctor called to try to get labor and delivery and Maine med to take me (but I’m not far enough along) and the urgent care doc told me. She then proceeded to tell me I didn’t need to be there and my issue was outpatient and send me home.

I saw Dr. Van Hengel for my entire first pregnancy. She refused to believe that my inflamed gallbladder was anything but heart for 6 months (which ended with me spending four days in the hospital waiting to have it removed less than two weeks after delivery). She also made me worry far more than necessary about gestational diabetes just because I was a little overweight at the time (including telling just how shocked she was when my sugar levels came back completely normal after the test). She wouldn't listen to me when I was concerned about anything. She asked me at every single visit after my 20 week ultrasound if we were having a boy or a girl (even though she could have just looked at my file for ten seconds beforehand). Oh, and I never saw her more less than 45 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start.

I have been going to Dr. Van Hengel for nearly 25 years. Her level of knowledge and care are excellent!
