List of Kenneth Calamia's Reviews
As another patient also reviewed, he spent the majority of my visit trying to discredit and talk horrible things about a world renowned doctor who diagnosed and treated me. I moved south and was looking for him to take over. I walked out and never looked back. It was disgraceful that a doctor would put more energy into an apparent personal grudge against another doctor than focus on the patient.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I saw Dr. Calamia in January of 2020 as part of my executive health exam. I’ve dealt with flares of mysterious symptoms for 20 plus years and just knew that I would finally get the help I needed at the Mayo Clinic. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The worst of those symptoms when I saw Dr. Calamia were shortness of breath and pain in my ribs. Dr Calamia spent very little time with me and decided it was fibromyalgia and handed me a pamphlet on their 2 week fibromyalgia clinic. All the while my labs showed a high rheumatoid factor. From there my health continued to deteriorate. I had rashes end bruising all over my body, extreme pain in my ribs and the shortness of breath was so bad that I couldn’t talk or get out of the bed. In April my husband drove me to the ER at Mayo because I couldn’t talk for feeling I would faint. The Er dismissed everything as fibromyalgia because my 02 was normal. I asked them for some other test to show I couldn’t
This doctor was more concerned about proving my home doctor wrong than helping me find answers. I drove 18 hours round trip and have no answers to my health issues. My doctors sent all my notes. I drove to all my doctors and took all of my records with me. These were not reviewed. I was told I could see other doctors there but it was New Year’s Eve and no one would see me. He took bloodwork and said he would call me to follow up but never did.
Paternalistic approach to care rather than patient centered. Took a personal call during an office visit to talk to Comcast. Runs late, doesn't take me or my questions seriously, gets my records mixed up. If you want a paternalistic doctor he's great. I'm trying to find a new Rheumatologist because I feel like I know more about my condition than he does.
Dr Kenneth Calamia is now at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville. (Long story deleted) I was instructed by Dr. Calamia to call him on a Thursday. Still in pain/discomfort, he has NOT returned my phone calls, despite multiple messages and apologies from his nursing staff. It is now lunchtime on the following Monday.
Drove hours to see him with high hopes of getting some answer for my ongoing symptoms and pain that no one else seemed to be able to figure out and not only did he give me an answer he was also caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. I wasn’t rushed, he went over every piece of lab work with me and made me feel confident in his findings. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to be seen by such an amazing doctor.

I travelled several states and almost 12 hours just to see If I could get a specialist that could help me get my immune system under control and to find out why I'm having such horrible conditions from it. I was SOOO excited to be FINALLY getting help and looking forward to seeing if I could have a better life again, with the help from an excellent doctor. Unfortunately my day dreams became a nightmare!! As a nurse I quickly found out the type of doctor I was dealing with when he ask me what i was doing there. I stated the physician that sent me here included all of it in his notes and tried to start telling him. BUT, EVERY TIME I tried telling him a problem or symptom he would say, "SHHH" and/or, "I don't want to hear that" and stick his hand up. He concluded my appointment by telling me a diagnosis I've had for the past 15 years and then after stating I needed to get better in order to help my special needs child more, then said I was depressed. I wasn't depressed until he heard this. This REALLY made me angry! She is the light in my life! Not something that makes me depressed! So, I quickly finished this appointment and will NEVER return to be humiliated again and to be treated like a subpar human being. Doctors like this need to retire or change their field of work!
Dr. Calamia has resurrected me more than once. He is a very compassionate physician who shows his care for his patients. I have complete faith in his abilities to care for me or guide me where I need to go. Dr. Calamia has treated me for over twenty years. We've had some rough patches, but he has always led me through.
I've never been more pleased or comfortable with a physician.. I'm so thankful I had a chance to be seen by him

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
