List of Spencer Bertram's Reviews
I have gone there in pain for over 2 years! I am sitting here with ice packs on my back and tears streaming down my face! They don’t help! I wish they could deal with my pain for 1 day!!!!! They COULDN’T OR WOULDN’T. I suffer every day! I am transferring some place else!!!!! Go elsewhere
Dr. Bertram has an amazing empathy for his patients. I drive over 2 hours to visit him when I many solutions available in the Metro Detroit area. I find comments that he is a jerk to be made by intellectually deprived individuals who don’t understand the efforts he has gone trough to provide pain management to his patients.
Doctor does not care about you! He is too rushed and therefore a dangerous place for the patient. I was very hurt by his radio frequency and had to go to the ER because I was denied pain medication for a day only. His office manager would not give him my message about what he did to me in his procedure room. Be wary of this Doctor and his terrible staff as they DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!
STAY AWAY, find another Doc that actually cares about your pain. Staff are rude, medical staff is always new and nobody stays, he is slipping with his procedures and he HURT me badly 3X and does not care anymore.
For my last radio frequency for my neck (I have had several), Doc left my procedure midway and had HIS OFFICE MGR. finish MY procedure. He hurt me badly which was far worse then when I originally jacked up my neck, my BP was dangerously high and he did the procedure even though I and my husband questioned his decision, should have sent me to the ER because I was having a heart problem (it is resolved and I was very lucky nothing bad happened). He is getting extremely careless with his procedures, 4 years ago he was good and it has all gone down hill ever since. Office Mgr. would not give Doc my phone message about MY PAIN and she asked what PAIN MED I wanted? I am not a Doc but she gave me one I was allergic to in my chart? His staff does not stay and there is always someone new, front desk staff very rude, cleanliness in procedure wait area needs work, medical help is bad, things very rushed, questions are not answered and Doc does not care anymore.
His staff is ill prepared and can be very rude up front. His staff that prepares you for the procedures have changed every time I came for the last 3 years and the quality of care from them and Dr. got very bad. He cannot keep his best staff and they were not happy I was told. The last 3 radio frequency procedures for my neck pain were good at first, then got sloppy after that. HE actually let his office manager finish my procedure to my hubby's concern, just left the surgical room to next patient. The last 3 procedures he really hurt me and when I trued to contact him his office manager asked what pain med I wanted?? I am not a Doctor and she would not give him a message from me to call me? My point is this, front desk staff is rude, he cannot keep quality staff who prepare you for your procedure, he is getting sloppy with his technique and he hurt me badly (like when I first injured myself type of pain) and I am not a baby about my pain, he does not care about you afterward and wants you to make another office visit to "see" how the procedure went is costly too and he is slipping in HIS CARE OF YOU AS A PATIENT! I left after he hurt me and I could not get a message to him. The upside: I understand my pain now and can work with it, I do not need the barbaric radio frequency procedure , I control my pain with a marijuana edible (I got my card because I am allergic to many pain meds) at night and most of all I DO NOT NEED THIS DR FOR ANYTHING AGAIN, EVER! HE is dangerous and will hurt someone severly someday and I hope it is not you!
I saw him when he was in Rochester, and when I found out he was no longer in the area, I was really sad to have to find a new pain management doctor. I only saw him once, but he was really kind and caring towards me and I felt like he took me seriously even though I am young. He listened to me and did a gentle exam of my mouth (where I am having pain) that was more gentle and careful than a lot of dental providers I've seen. I really appreciated that he was willing to see me and try medications to help me. I wish he was still in the area! If you read this Dr. Bertram, know that you are greatly missed in Rochester and you had a positive impact on me and were one of the nicest providers I have seen in my long list. Wish you were closer because I'd be coming to you if I could!
This guy is a jerk.
This doctor exceeds in knowledge, professionalism, and has taken care of my neck and back issues very well to void major surgery. However, Dr. Bertram is no longer at; University Pain Clinic of Rochester, Michigan, and will be truly missed by his patients. For me I will be looking for another Pain Doctor like Dr. Bertram.
I came here for pain relief. The staff is rude, the Doctor is very rushed doing his procedures, does not take careful time with the patient, is not helpful with your issue, does not spend time with you when you come in for a consult and makes his conclusions fast say less than 10 minutes to come to a conclusion about if he can help you or not, will not return a phone call if you have a problem from a procedure ie more pain, staff is inexperienced which makes me nervous, the entire process is so bad that I would not want anyone I know seeing this man as he only cares what he is paid for by my insurance. HE DOES NOT CARE FOR YOU THE PATIENT!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
