It is pretty bad when one 5 star rating brings your reviews up to a 2 rating. You know you would have a 1 rating if it wasn't for that one 5 star rating? I had my 95 year old mother transported there by ambulance for a fall in which she hurt her head, messed up her knees and back. Normally a hospital would take someone in right away when they come in by ambulance, but not Alpena. They will wheel you right into the waiting room. She sat there for more than 4 hours in pain (closer to 5 hrs.) Finally I wheeled her out and took her to the West Branch Hospital. I later found out the the Alpena Hospital is a Unionized hospital and West Branch isn't. So if you like waiting in pain without any service by all means go to the Alpena Hospital. My curse on the hospital is this: "When all those workers that drag their feet turn 95 that they get the same treatment. What goes around comes around. I would give them a -5 if there were negatives.

Spent 11&1/2 hours in ER yesterday with my 89 year old father. Finally,was taken to Petoskey by ambulance. It's unbelievable how much nicer,more compassionate they entire staff is over here. Goes to show,all the pretty new brick on that facility can't contain the horrible service,or lack there of

after sitting in a crowded un attended by staff who , are so short staffed and unrelieved and unresponsive ,er triage drs.,for 5 or more hrs , patients leaving to try to make it to other hospital er's is no way to run a emergence room of any kind. alpena mid mich needs a reality check. what is more important, covid restraints or people in need of emergency care. pull your heads out of your ass america and allow dr's and nurses back on there jobs full time, then maybe we can be seen at out local er. srvice was apaulling , thank god my husband wasnt lying in lobby dying.

Had to go to ER here because the "express clinic" down the road told me they had no providers on-site. Weird since I went there ~10:00 and the sign said they were open. So, went to this ER. Walked in and was quickly signed in, quickly triaged. Called into the exam room in short order where the nurse and PA quickly assessed and treated my wound. All encounters were professional, friendly and efficient. In and out within an hour. Would recommend this ER to anyone in the area.

Maxwell Sleep Study Clinic poor customer service today on follow up visit. Sad, because the initial consult and actual sleep study were very good. Don't think I'll be going back. Sad that Maxwell's staff augered in his reputation.

I went there for a routine check up, to see my family doctor who is a bit new there. I was a patient of Dr. Schindler since roughly 2000. He moved a couple of times and I continued to go to his office. He is a different breed of MD. He's in this new office now and is extremely knowledgable and listens. I wanted to check out the area up there and set up an appointment as well. Beautiful area, same excellent doctor. This new place is very fortunate to count him as theirs now. I would recommend him and the office to anyone looking for medical services. He is up on the latest treatments, medications, insurance practices and takes an interest in the patient and their well being. The office staff is friendly and gets people in and taken care of. Dr. Schindlers patients and staff regarded it as a loss when he moved. Now Alpena has a good reason to go to the ARMC.

The care given in the emergency room is terrible. They are understaffed, moral is low. Not enough doctors and the nurses act as though you are an intrusion on them. My wife came to ER twice in the same day. She had extremely high blood pressure. She was given pills and sent home. No test. We no sooner arrived home when she had severe headaches. Went back to the hospital. Her blood pressure was higher. She waited to see the doctor for 1 hour and forty five minutes. Nurses would not even give her a drink of water. Waiting for the doctor they said. Finally my wife started yelling for an ambulance to get her out of there. Doctor responded to that and said he was "busy" with other patients. If I'm not mistaken, extremely high blood pressure can cause strokes and other complications. Logic tells me that if the doctor is "to busy" he should call for help. He is not the only doctor in town. He ordered a ct scan, gave her more medication and she was released with her blood pressure still to high. I should note, she normally does not have high blood pressure. That should have been cause for alarm. I hope the new Mid Michigan management will straighten out this mess. In the mean time I hope we do not have to go to the ER. This used to be a well run, compassionate, caring, high morale hospital. One final thought, the "hatchet welding" CEO and HR management should be replaced

If you value your life, and that of your loved ones you'll make the trip to Gaylord, Traverse City or just about anywhere other than ARMC. Our losses due to the hospital have been significant. Steer clear

I never will allow my mother to be sent to Alpena Regional Medical Center again as long as she lives. Bad, bad experience for her and for me. The doctor suggested I "stop all blood tests." Shocked, I responded. "My mother has to have blood tests. She's on cumadin." The doctor then suggested. "Then, we stop the cumadin." I responded, "She'll get a blood clot that will go to her heart!" The doctor shrugged as if saying, "So?" Oh, yeah, let's just rush all our elderly citizens straight to death. If you have an elderly family member that you love, keep them the heck away from this Medical Center. My dad died there. Yes, I'm upset. I felt like my rights were violated and they were trying to take over. They even threatened the owner of the nursing home where mom is staying that if she did not sign my mother onto hospice that she would not be released back to their nursing home. I thought that was MY choice, not their's! Yes, I'm upset and I it would be fine with me if neither I nor any member of my family ever step foot in this place again.
