Beyond Primary Care's Online Review Report Card

Multiple Ethics Violations. AMA Code of Medical Ethics Opinion 1.1.5 states that a physician may only withdraw from a case after giving "sufficient notice to the patient" to permit them to secure another physician. Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Guidelines state a termination is only valid if it includes: Written Notice: Sent via certified mail, 30-Day Transition: A clear statement that the physician will continue to provide emergency care and necessary prescriptions for at least 30 days from the date of the letter. Mr. O'Boyle refused to fill RXs until a balance on my account of around $250 was paid. A major medical ethics violation. This was despite receiving proof of my circumstances and my track record of being a student nurse. Ironically BPC uses not being able to afford care in their marketing citing Jeff's story of not being able to afford insurance in medical school. Yet they dropped me without a discussion once I had a balance few would consider astronomical. When I pointed out the discontinuity of care involved in the process of withholding medical care until a financial balance needed to be paid, Jeff pivoted to simply dropping me altogether over email. All of this was unexpected and sudden without warning. Zero help finding another physician. They were informed that these were grave ethical violations but this did not make a difference to them. I am very concerned they will behave this way with other patients, I will be filing a formal allegation with LARA (Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs). The initial signs of a lack of genuine care for me and the centrality of their concerns about money started when Ms. Jones asked me how much the previous clinic charged me as I was on boarding. It continued when she did not mask her irritation if I was late but rather grumbled under her breath in her anger toward me. Jeff had to point out that I was early to Dr. Jones for my next appoint almost as if to try to wipe her slate clean toward me. This was despite knowing my relevant diagnosis. Jeff struggled to look me in the eye or build report with me during appointments or to communicate if something was happening behind the scenes that took his mind off the moment. They have proven to me they do not have the emotional maturity, moral compass, or humility to function in this profession safely with people in vulnerable positions depending on them. I am unsure what the financial situation is of the clinic. Based on the response in the screenshots provided, it is evident to me Mr. O'Boyle is not concerned about the psychological impact or seriousness of betraying a patient. I recently joined Beyond Primary Care and had a fantastic 'meet and greet' with Dr. Jeff. We discussed and agreed upon an approach to monitoring my labs as I navigate lifestyle changes; he is incredibly compassionate, engaged, and present. The practice’s transparent pricing for labs and imaging makes healthcare so much more accessible. ​I did have a brief hiccup when communicating with another provider there where our philosophies regarding lab frequency didn't align. However, when I brought this to Dr. Jeff’s attention, he immediately cleared it up and reassured me that our original plan stands. I’m so glad to have him as my primary doctor and highly recommend his refreshing, patient-centered approach. I've already recommended BPC to many of my family members and friends as a great option for primary care. Thank you Beyond Primary Care. 🙏

I can’t recommend Beyond Primary Care highly enough. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and truly listened to. The environment is warm, inclusive. I started seeing Dr Jeff a little under a year ago after leaving a very toxic healthcare situation where I was being over medicated by another doctor and it became both very unsafe and very unhealthy for me. It was hard transitioning for a little while of course, but now that I am well established with different dosages and slightly different meds I feel like a completely different person and that’s a really good feeling. If I have a concern, it gets addressed quickly, I’m taken seriously when I speak, I’m listened to, and all of that good stuff that seems to be an issue in the healthcare industry isn’t an issue with Dr. Jeff. Edited to add: I had an emergency come up with my dog and I had to cancel my appointment the day before and when I called the office not only was Dr J completely understanding, he managed to squeeze me in the following day so I wouldn’t have to go without, and It’s really refreshing that he actually genuinely cared about what was going on in my world.

Beyond Primary is the best health care experience I have ever had by a long shot. Dr Jeff is amazing, I highly recommend!

Being a member gives me tremendous peace of mind. I know from experience that if I have a problem, I can contact the office and I'll get a personal response quickly. It's wonderful to get good, kind care without the ridiculous bureaucracy and wait times.
