I am grateful to both Dr. Hughes and Christina her receptionist for the kindness and excellent service they provide. The practice is so different than our current health system methodology where you are given medication or a referal and send you on your way. Dr. Hughes goes to the root of the problem in order to eliminate it. I sleep better at night knowing they have my back.

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible care Dr. Hughes has provided to my husband and me. My husband, a Military Veteran and once very athletic , faced chronic stomach issues, migraines, fatigue, GERD, and numerous emergency room visits after his discharge. As a healthcare provider, I felt that we needed a holistic approach alongside his conventional medical care. Finding Dr. Hughes in 2023 has been a turning point. He no longer suffers from chronic migraines, requires Botox injections, or takes migraine medication. He is now on the lowest dose for stomach issues and has returned to working out at the gym 5-6 days a week, just like in his 20s. Dr. Hughes’ dedication to understanding his condition has made all the difference. She thoroughly reviewed his medical history, addressed deficiencies, and focused on the root causes of his concerns. I have had stomach & weight issues, off and on since I was a child and was "diagnosed" with IBS at a young age. I had been in emergency rooms many times throughout my life only to leave with them telling me I have gastritis (Inflammation of the stomach lining) & that it will subside on its own. At the time, I trusted doctors and accepted what they told me. It wasn't until I was an adult, that my husband pointed out I would always complain of a stomach ache after I ate and that I was always tired. I left extremely hopeful after that first appt., she was thorough and taught me way more about my body specifically than I had ever known before. I finally had a full picture of the root source of what my body was going through & the root causes. This led to how we actually solve the problem. Not just put a band aid over the symptoms. My inflammation is down, I've lost weight, my hormones are more balanced & more importantly I have energy and mental clarity after I eat! (no more brain fog post lunch, woo!) And I very rarely ever feel fatigued. And the best part is less anxiety and depression. Paying for an Appt. with Dr. Hughes is worth saving for. After 30 years of different health struggles… 2 appointments with Dr Hughes and I am feeling like a new person already - I still have a ways to go but Dr Hughes has me hopeful when I thought all hope was gone; I’m also sleeping and feeling better physically! Hopelessness has to rank up there with one of the worst human emotions, but that’s about where I was. I was once a former college athlete but, over the years, found myself increasingly struggling with declining health, weight gain, extreme fatigue, sleep issues, horribly itchy skin, anxiety, excruciating pain in my feet, high cholesterol and much more. June 2021, I found a PCP who ordered the right tests and gave me the diagnosis of Hashimotos (an autoimmune disease that targets the thyroid). While it wasn't a death sentence and almost a relief to finally find out what was going so wrong, I ran into more disappointment and frustration. My PCP was a great quarterback and happy to refer me to any specialist that could possibly help. Unfortunately, nearly a dozen specialists all dropped the ball; they didn’t seem to have the expertise, background, ability, interest, correct specialization or God knows what else to effectively treat me and actually improve my quality of life. At age 50, I wasn't ready to give up or continue suffering, so I started researching doctors offering more and/or different approaches and that's when I came across Dr Hughes. I am FOREVER grateful to this woman who is as passionate about her profession as she is about caring for her patients. Dr Hughes never made promises she couldn't keep, but instead, always promised to try her best…and her best was phenomenal. I truly believe this woman is a genius. She left no stones unturned and put me through all kinds of tests so that she could have a deep understanding of how my body was (and was not) functioning and get to the root cause rather than just putting bandaids on symptoms. Dr Hughes is no cookie cutter. She treated me like a unique individual and came up with a holistic treatment plan specific to my problems. While there is currently no "cure" for my disease, I am now thriving and feeling more healthy than I have in many, many years. Everyone around me notices the change as well. Dr Hughes changed my life! I was in a really dark place when I came to her, I had no energy, brain fog really bad and extreme bloating also problems with moving my waste. I had seen drs, had blood work done, only to be told everything was fine. Dr Hughes found that I had Hashimoto’s, I was anemic and I had so many other imbalances. Dr. Hughes is truly the best physician I've ever had. I began seeing her in 2017 after I moved to Ann Arbor. (I've been meaning to write this review for a while.) She's helped me in so many ways, especially with getting my thyroid labs and other biomarkers in their optimal ranges. I also have seen Dr. Hughes for some wonderfully helpful acupuncture sessions, prior to the pandemic. I feel the best I've felt on all levels (in over a decade) and as of this writing, I'm 50 years old. My supplements are spot on for me finally. I also have been able to return to my athletic journey as a runner and am doing very well. I've also resolved some long-standing gut issues with Dr. Hughes' help, ones that I had seen at least 3-4 other practitioners to try to resolve. I especially appreciate her "test, not guess" approach to troubleshooting health issues, which isn't always employed effectively in the integrative medical field. Dr. Hughes is a very skilled clinician, combining this with her amazing intuition, warmth, compassion, and empathy when you work with her. This is truly rare to find! She's the type of physician who LISTENS to you. She and her staff provide amazing service and treat you like family. I feel so blessed to be a patient of Dr. Hughes.' I always look forward to my appointments with her, since they are always so enlightening and helpful. Some of us want to be "optimally healthy," not just "healthy," as defined by traditional medicine. Dr. Hughes is the best ally I've ever had in achieving my goals for optimal health. Dr. Hughes diagnosed a rare and unexpected problem that conventional medicine didn't even know to look for. I would have been suffering indefinitely if it weren't for Dr. Hughes. She had me do a lab test that conventional docs don't do, and my insurance did not cover it because its outside the conventional world. This microbiology test discovered a very bad bacteria that was the cause of my mysterious health problems that previous treatments had not been very effective against. Even a conventional specialist did not help at all, and just ran up my medical bills. But Dr. Hughes found the issue, treated it accordingly, and now I'm feeling 90% better, and on the road to a full recovery. Dr. Hughes is professional and very good at what she does. I'm beyond grateful.
