After being sent home by three other hospitals being told that I was healthy, U of M finally were the ones to diagnose me with Leukemia. Over the last year and a half through countless in-patient stays, treatments, clinic visits, and tests, they have saved my life over and over again. My doctors are intelligent, kind, caring, and listen to me. All of my complications and side effects have been handled in a timely and efficient manner. There is a reason why this hospital is rated #1 in Michigan and #5 in the nation. I highly recommend it regardless of what health problem you have, they will do whatever is needed to help you. **Edit** It is three years since my original review and I am still a patient of U of M and am healthy five years after a leukemia diagnosis!

Just bad. No staff. No doctors. No rooms just sat in the hall for seven hours and then saw an intern doctor for 5 maybe 6 minutes. Not helpful or concerned about our health issues. Nurse said they were too busy.

A complete nightmare to work with from start to finish. First of all, we were balanced billed (a crime) $500 right out of the gate because the doctor decided to have someone "read a chart" - something that was ALREADY done by our own doctor at a fraction of the cost. They KNEW we needed prior authorization for any work they did for us, but they didn't even bother to contact us to tell us what they were doing. Their billing department was mysteriously unable to answer our questions or calls about what the bill was for. It was run through our insurance in such a way that it looked like an actual test instead of just someone looking at it. Our original doctor charged $90 total for taking the actual X-ray and reading it - how can someone justify $500 for just looking at an X-ray and then telling the patient they don't even know what they're looking at? After weeks of additional testing with no one on their staff able to figure out what they were looking at, they finally provided a diagnosis but provided no treatment plan whatsoever. I was able to diagnose my wife's condition myself in about 5 questions and no tests, and my diagnosis matched exactly what the doctor came up with. Why was I able to figure it out myself before they were? Best part? When we asked what they recommended, since there was no treatment plan, we were told to just go back to our original doctor who isn't associated with U of M, but to come back to U of M afterwards and tell them what he said, plus run even more tests. We were referred to U of M by our personal care provider because they have a large number of specialists. Now, he's absolutely flabbergasted by how badly they botched our healthcare. Will never be returning and will not recommend to anyone that I know. Seems that U of M's primary care is in draining your wallet for every penny they can, not in actually taking care of their patients.

This place should be called a Car Dealer no an Hospital. You are not going to be a patient you are just a customer.

Had to leave with a back injury and severe pain. Because they where to busy. O I forgot I couldn't even walk threw the door.

My friend Merlin had 23 seizures, in a two hour time period he thought the year as 2015, W Buch was the present and his 23 year old doctor said he was faking it and released him

Continually get hung up when trying to call radiology. Staff waits until the day before the appointment to inform you that your tests aren't covered, even though they have known for days prior per the message they send you on the portal.

The staff was amazing. I was visiting someone in the ER and staff came up and asked if I needed help when I didn't even ask, which was amazing because I was SO lost. Once in the ER, the staff there were kind, empathetic, attentive, and down to earth. They soothed our worries and even had us laughing! We were in and out, and the stay was comfortable. The campus was gorgeous and clean. Once inside, the signs made it easy to navigate, and I left feeling confident and informed. HOPEFULLY we don't have to return but if we do, we know we are in great hands.

So let’s talk about the OR and the pregnancy rooms (that’s what I call them) it wasn’t the best turn of events for us. We went for a meet and greet and didn’t leave. However when we were admitted every nurse and doctor was nice. In a less than ideal situation they made a huge difference in a very positive way. The OR was also amazing the entire team cared! Every person that was there was so helpful caring and made sure we were good! They made us feel welcomed. The after birth rooms were great nurses were wonderful and caring. The NICU was amazing Taylor Megan and April were amazing. So great with us as parents and great with our child. It was a great experience and they were terrific. I named people but the entire nicu team was wonderful. The 12th floor has been wonderful as well! The whole team is amazing and have taken great care of us and our baby. They have been wonderful. Everyone during our time with them has been wonderful. Words can’t describe the teams we came in contact with. In a situation that wasn’t ideal in the terms of timing the U Of M team made a huge impact on our lives in the most amazing ways.

Excellent Care. My husband had back surgery recently and the care he received at UMich Hospital was outstanding. The doctors and nurses were impressive not only in their knowledge and skill but also in the care and patience they showed us. I could go on and on about the excellent medical staff but I also was impressed by the caring support staff at the hospital. From the valets to the people staffing the check-in process everyone we met was kind, patient, and helpful. We are so grateful to have such an excellent hospital in our city.
