Intelligent, commanding, gentle and very kind to his patients. By intelligent, I don't mean what he applies in the operating room, that's brilliance, but what one sees in his assessment of a case, and the support he gives his patients. No meanness here, no "wooden affect" and no hidden manipulations. I owe the benevolent Dr. Wakefield a lifelong debt for his compassionate care of my late mother, who came to him half destroyed by a lesser surgeon several years ago.
