List of South Texas Dental's Reviews
This company owes payment for services rendered for interpreting services for Deaf members. Keep getting the run around for many months.
THEY WILL ROB YOUR MONEY IF YOU ARE OUT OF POCKET PATIENT!!! I set up an appointment for my son and asked the full price for a Checkup, x-rays, and cleaning. First they said $80 through the phone, when we get there the total came up to $104. I asked three times if this amount will cover everything, the front desk person said yes. My son went inside to do his x-rays. Then, they called me to went inside too. When they were about to proceed and do the cleaning, another of the front desk ladies came and asked me for $154 to cover the fees for the appt. I told her that I already paid $104 and show my receipt. She explained to me that I paid for a "DISCOUNT PLAN " to received "FUTURE DISCOUNTS" on procedures. I told her "No ma'am, the person at the front desk charged me for today's dental service". Then she said that it was a "MISCOMMUNICATION PROBLEM" and that I have to paid extra $80 dlls for the cleaning. Then, she started saying and making calculations and said that I have to paid extra $80 because my son was considered an "adult" and the cleaning procedure is charged different from a teenager. Then I mentioned to her that she went from extra $50 to $80 now, so how the "PLAN" that apperently I bought its helping me if they are charged now $80 instead of $50?! I have never been treated the way the front desk person did, so rude and keep repeating the same thing over and over again. We just walked away from there because there was no point in arguing with a person that does not want to listen and understand the mistake they did. Very unprofessional and not polite either. AND THEY KEPT MY MONEY!!!!
The service is great they helped me how to take all the products even though I kept asking over and over lol they were very patient with me... The Doctor is awesome as well As his Assistant... Awesome Place...
I went to the Fredericksburg Rd location in San Antonio for the first time a few days ago. The office was very dingy, and the dental chair was torn up. The dentist didn't seem to care at all that she was hurting me (only said "really???" in response to me crying out in pain). Yeah, it "really" hurt, doctor. They kept pushing this product called Perio Daily Defense. It's very expensive, and is not covered by insurance. It seemed like they must be paid on commission or something, because the person trying to sell it to me even suggested I take out a CareCredit card in order to get it. No thanks. I was told I needed a gingival irrigation for $120, again not covered by insurance. This turned out to consist of very minty chlorhexidine being shot at my gums with a syringe over the course of 2 minutes. I later found out from another dentist that they give samples of the same stuff out for free. Lastly, I'm not sure that the hygienist cleaned my teeth very well. Anyway, I'm definitely not going back to this place, and I strongly suggest you find somewhere better. It shouldn't be hard.
I've been coming here (Plano Location) for years with no issues until recently. They refuse to do my regular 6 month cleaning (that's covered by my insurance) because they want to do a deep cleaning first (that's not covered by my insurance) before I can do regular cleanings. Whatever happened to making a plan and letting the patients choose the route they want to take (like it has been for years)!? I will be looking for a new dentist for both me and my child (who had just started here after her dentist switched carriers) AND reporting this to the Dentist Association. I'm on Medicaid and on a fixed income. I've had deep cleanings done before and they aren't ineffective in my case...I shouldn't have to take out a loan to get my teeth cleaned.
Great service from everyone. They all helped me feel at ease.
I go to the 834 SW Military Drive office and see Dr. James. He and his assistants are unfailingly gentle, patient and kind. I suffer from anxiety, so even at age 54, I still bring my stuffed monkey to all my appointments. Everyone at South Texas Dental is supportive and helpful. Dr. James gives me the correct amount of shots to numb me so that I won't experience any pain. If I begin to feel any hurtful discomfort I just let him know and he immediately stops work and gives me additional pain medication to stop the pain. He is also very good about giving the shots time to numb the proper areas. He and his team are very knowledgeable, explain everything clearly & are cheerful, pleasant and encouraging. I would not even consider going to another dentist.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
