List of Mark Obrien Md's Reviews
I saw him about a referral for an ENT and a plastic surgeon because I’m female to male transgender. When I explained my sinus issues to him, he told me it was most likely from MSG. He didn’t seem to believe that I’ve had many issues and needed to see a specialist. Then when I explain my desire to start medically transition, he looked at me and said “You’re going to regret it, but it’s your body”. I was furious. He didn’t ask me anything about my experience so far or anything. Definitely do not recommend him for anyone.
He’s been my doctor for almost 15 years. I wouldn’t trade him up for anything. I may not always get a clear picture but he’s never let me or my health down. Straight forward and trustworthy.
When I originally made my appointment w Dr O’Brien, it was for “nephrology” concerns. He didn’t hesitate to tell me he could be my “primary” care physician. I told him that I already had a “primary.” I had to have numerous lab tests done prior to each visit. My next and subsequent appointments were annually. When I get to his office, the nurse was instructed to put me on the ekg machine ??? Next to nothing relative to my kidneys which is why I went to see him in the first place. When I arrived for my future appointments, I was treated as if I was there for a “general” checkup as you would when you saw a primary care physician rather than a nephrologist. Interestingly, I received a card late Fall from his office stating his medical practice was closing as of January1, 2021. This morning, October 15, 2021, I received a text reminder to get my wellness checkup ? (I thought they said his medical practice was closing as of Jan 1, 2021 ? After my last visit in the fall of 2020, I decided I wouldn’t be returning Dr O’Brien.
My previous doctor retired and I went to Intercare and was placed in care of Dr Obrien. I have been seeing him over a year and have had 3 arguments with him. I'm a grown man and this guy growled at me for saying Jesus when he poked a very painful area. He has dropped the ball on my meds repeatedly. Sets up appointments and goes over everything he said during the last appointment. Does not remember me or my ailments. I suspect bipolar. One appointment he will be a nice talkative friendly guy. The next you have a man with a chip on his shoulder and an extreme attitude towards you. I have been judged and belittled by him. Wish there was a negative rating available.
No do not go to this charlatan. He needs mental healthcare and that’s all he'll ever offer as care. One of the worst physicians I have ever seen Absolutely no follow up on anything. Couldn’t hit a standard of care if it bite him in the face. Inappropriate follow up with any referrals provided. Explains absolutely nothing. Is Holier than thou and full of Hubris. Condescending no respect rude. Never washes his filthy hands either.
My family and I have been going to Dr. O'Brien for many years. We all have great relationships with the staff, especially Jennifer, and the doc. We also are in great health! We are very fortunate for Dr. O'Brien's preventative and matter-of-fact style to alert us of potential threats and start corrective actions early - not sure many other doctors would have caught on to what he did.
I met Dr. Mark O'Brien at a local establishment. I have never been so insulted by an older man in my life. He actually called me a moran. He was trying to push his political views down my throat and I set him straight and he didn't like that I guess. The bottom line I feel is that he is a very unhappy sorry old man that is miserable and he is finally realizing that money doesn't make you happy. I really feel sorry for him and his family.
Wife has Huntington's disease. I went in there for an appt with my wife and was not allowed to go back into the room with her. Part of her symptoms are memory loss..she can't remember what the doctor told her. I called to talk to the doctor personally on the phone and he wouldn't even talk to me. He is only worried about $$$$$.!!!!!
I'm still scratching my head as to why my specialist sent me to this doctor. I needed a nephrologist! I'm reading here that he is really an internist! I have a great one here in Kzoo. I drove up to see him in December (in a snow storm). Once there, he didn't care about any info I brought with me from nephrologists at UofM, When I offered these to him, he said you wasted your time and money going there. This problem doesn't need them. He didn't want a complete history of what others have tried....I walked out of there with a script for 2 BP meds when my BP runs 110/50's regularly. I took them 2 days and called the office...told them I was so dizzy and lightheaded, yeah I didn't need BP meds! They reduced the amount I'm to take. Fast forward second appt in 6 wks...office personnel were very nice, no complaints there! 2nd appt, He comes in and says the meds will work and continue to take them see you in 6 months. What's! He hands my husband( a pharmacist, doctor didn't know) a copy of what he sent to the referring doctor....at the bottom, he states he doubts I am taking my meds prescribed by my internist that would control my condition. So in other words he doesn't think there's anything wrong with me? I am not going back in 6 months....I will stick to my internist here in Kzoo, as far as a kidney doctor he is Not one as far as I can tell. I feel like reporting him to my insurance. What a waste of gas, time and money! Never again. Anyone wants my appt in July it's all yours...
He is a very inept physician that really should be investigated for his inability to provide sevices in a timely manner... No follow up on patients medications

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
