Interaction with the kids is amazing staff really nice and polite
This company is drive by money, not to help your child.
Terrible Staff. They cannot service 13 yr olds during the day time because kids 2-6 are there? Make that make sense
There is so much to say about attendant care. To start, I have been involved with the company since 2018 (taking about a year and a half away from the field before returning). When attendant care first started, it really stood for something and seemed to really be client centered. When I came back just last year in may it was great to see how much they have expanded from st. Clair to Detroit and farther. However, things had obviously changed and continued to change yet not for the best. Attendant care has had this way of showing a lack of appreciation for its employees making sure their punishments outweigh their rewards. My reason for quitting stemmed from so many things but overall the fact that I went above and beyond month after month for the scheduling team, clients, and staff and was still given the short end of the stick. Every time it was my time to earn something or be recognized for the work I put in for this place it seemed to always be ripped away from me. The hard work you put in with attendant care does in fact get overlooked and you get a mediocre “staff shout out” as their way of saying thank you. It’s ALL based on attendance and absenteeism. Attendant care has this policy where if you call off you’ll get a point (which is fair) however, 2 points gets you a verbal, 4 is a written warning, 6 is a final, and 8 is a termination. There are multiple ways to automatically get 4 points (halfway to fired) rather you refuse to take a client who is not yours, or you call off after a shift starts (fair), or if you have an emergency and you can’t take the second half of your shift. They have a reward system that allows you to earn points to get rid of your attendance points however, that does not take away the absenteeism point which tracks the amount of times you’ve called off in the year (regardless of doctors notes) if you call off 14x in a year with or without a valid excuse and you have zero attendance points you are still very much eligible to be fired. We work hard to get rid of the points only to still be on a corrective action plan which means you’re not eligible for things like employee of the month, bonuses and yearly raises, (that you deserve for being with the company for a year??) you’re not eligible to get a raise and become a trainer which they just started recently. ACC provides 3 personal days in which you can only use one in a month but you get an attendance and absenteeism point for using them. Being back at attendant care I have not received any employee of the month for my over dedication to the clients and company - I mean I’ve worked 50+ hours in a week, taking multiple client I’ve never worked with etc, I never received a raise for being with the company for a year (because of my absenteeism points but I didn’t have any attendance points) I never received a raise for being a trainer (instead they demoted me from trainer and then incorporated the $3 raise for newer staff to be trainers who have been with the company less than 90 days!) it’s a complete slap in the face with everything attendant care has done to me and so many other deserving staff. The technicians are working with no time in between clients to clean rooms, write notes, take a break, or anything. I’ve worked 10-12 hour days and have had to just not take a break or take only a 15 minute break because we didn’t have the staff or the clinicians work loads are so heavy they don’t have time for breaks themselves. We’ve had technicians come in with COVID and told to just wear a mask or told to go home but they never make parents or other staff aware which in my personal opinion is wreckless and can cause more people to be sick. There’s favoritism in the back office. Though I won’t mention names of the techs because they were all absolutely AMAZING. As techs we are REQUIRED to have our drivers license and a vehicle. There was a technician whose mother worked in the background office so she was allowed to be dropped off to the center which means she didn’t have to do in home cases when we are told in the beginning that we are all required to be open for in home cases. If you don’t have open availability you will not get the hours you anticipate. I was open 8-4 m-f and when I dropped my Tuesday afternoons, all of a sudden I was off two whole days and down 8-16 hours. If you have to tell a specific scheduler anything that may inconvenience her (such as a schedule change) she will almost completely ignore you until she needs something which is unprofessional. At times there have been miscommunication between a technician on an attendance plan and scheduling which has causes technicians to lose their job - instead of the company admitting their wrongs theyre quick to fire people. At one point there was mold growing in two of the rooms one being the bathroom that the lead BCBA Told us techs not to mention to parents (this was months ago and was handled, but still). When the director Kim Perrin comes around the center gets uncomfortable and tense. Mainly because when she comes it means something bad is going on. It’s never for something positive. So to sum it up… -punishments outweigh rewards -lack of employee appreciation and recognition -everything is based on attendance and absenteeism as opposed to your actual hard work and dedication -Some schedulers are “professionally rude” -lack of breaks in between clients to keep rooms sanitary and clean So moving on, I gave attendant care a 3 week resignation notice in which they accepted. I went to use my remaining 12 hours of PTO only to find out that once you put in your resignation, you forfeit your EARNED paid time off and they do not pay you out for it. Apparently this is legal in Michigan. After finding this out, I moved my resignation date earlier. This place is perfect in helping you understand that you should never be loyal to a company that literally shows you that they couldn’t give a single care in the world for its employees. I personally wuouldn’t bring my child here due to the inconsistencies, treatment of employees, lack of good communication and hunger for money. I wanted to name drop the lead BCBA as he was not the best lead. The lead BCBA is a massive micromanager which is odd because he stays in his office more than half the time. He doesn’t get to know his employees and sometimes the decisions he makes don’t make sense to us or him. I hate to say it but he is also a contributing factor to a lot of these employees suddenly up and leaving as well. I have a bond with this bcba and I understand he is socially awkward working with a bunch of girls and kids with behaviors ranging from compliant to aggressive. I find him pretty cool as a human being but as a bcba he has a long way to go. I don’t see attendant care going up from here unless they change their policies and give employees what they deserve as well as the clinicians any additional trainings needed to run an entire center. You know it’s bad when a company is emailing employees to write indeed reviews for the chance to win tickets to a sports game or for gift cards to Walmart and Amazon. I believed in attendant care so much in the beginning but they are just not the place to work. They hire some of the best people for sure but the way this place works I can only see them going downhill. Especially at the Roseville location unfortunately. Pictures attached of bribes and the policy.
Attendant Care is a fantastic place for autism services. We are very happy with the services our son is receiving and we are seeing him thrive with the services. 10/10 recommend!
I am leaving this here because they can and they do delete their bad google reviews. This company loves to promote they care about all of their employees and their great benefits. They got me and I want to make sure more people will think twice about working here. Also all of their positive reviews from June-August 2023 are from a contest and now they are using it as advertisement. First of all, their “amazing PTO” has an accrual rate of .0384 so at that rate you will be earning 1.14 hours per week if you’re working 30 hours a week. Which leads me to 2nd. If a kid cancels, they call you off. For the month of December I worked 9 hours a week because my kid was cancelling every day. For bathroom breaks, you have to ask on a chat and most people wait 45 minutes- an hour for someone to finally give you a bathroom break. Meanwhile the supervisors will be sitting and gossiping in their offices. We tried to bring this up to HR in a meeting, and she stated that we weren’t to talk about our breaks. People will work 12 hours with no meal because they really do not care if you get a break or not. This workplace is the most toxic environment I’ve ever been apart of. I stayed for the kids, but it was not good for my mental health. They make rules up as they go along that do not benefit the Behavior Techs. My cousin was fired with no warning because of the point system they have in place for calling off. When they are supposed to let you know how much you have and they didn’t. You get 4 points if you leave early for any reason. Her grandma fell at work and she had to leave. You can only get 8 points before you are fired. They do not have a cleaning crew. They expect us to be able to clean while we have clients. The place is filthy. It needs a deep cleaning desperately. They leave the deep cleaning to the one person who is also the only one giving breaks from 12-4. This leads to all of the kids being sick constantly. They do not have sick time. The few bad reviews you can find about them are all absolutely true. HR is ONE person with a superiority complex. She works for the company and herself. She will not advocate for employees. She’s extremely rude and only cares about her paperwork. I have witnessed several illegal things while working here. It really is amazing they are still open. The company started with one center in 2019 and by 2022 they had 5. They do not know what they are doing. Meanwhile the kids are the ones that are hurting from all of this. It really is just sad.
Kim Perrin worked at my child school and she was emotionally and verbally abusive with my child. She would deny is iep accommodations and force my child to do his school work without them, causing physical and emotional distress. She was just another bully for my child to deal with, and there for I would not recommend this place since she now works here.
Attendant Care is a great company! Warm environment and supportive staff!
I have worked for Attendant Care for over two years. Leadership is very supportive, and co-workers are like family. It”s very rewarding to see the progress of clients while they reach new goals. I have had many memories with clients that brings happiness to my heart. I have also learned a lot from my supervisors while pursuing my education, and they’re always available to answer questions and provide feedback.
Amazing company to work for! Very welcoming company and staff. Love seeing the progress in the kiddos 🧩 Proud to be apart of Attendant care!
