List of William Johnston's Reviews
Cancer can be a scary thing. From my initial meeting through the scheduling and surgery, Dr. Johnston's knowledge and expertise put my mind at ease. He had me do pelvic floor therapy prior to surgery, which greatly improved my recovery and control. I had a 1 night stay at the hospital and was able to exceed the timeline of expectation after surgery. I was dry the night after foley removal (1 month expected) a small leak pad 3 days after foley removal (1-3 months expected) and the unmentionable at 5 weeks (6+ months expected). I fully believe the therapy recommendations and Dr. Johnston's expertise aided in my recovery and early benchmarks.
Dr. Johnston takes his time to answer all of our questions. He is very open and provides clear information and all options for diagnosis and treatment. We were very happy with the way he made us feel and the handling of our concerns! We highly recommend him for anything men's health related. He is a true expert, kind and caring.
I was unable to get satisfaction from Veterans Administration hospital in Ann arbor. I requested and was approved for Outpatient Care. I was referred to Michigan Institute of Urology and Dr Johnston. Immediately I was tested for cause of prostate problems. After consultation with Dr Johnston, he scheduled and performed laser surgery on my prostate. I was so happy to get rid of catheter and bag and ...
Dr. Johnston was recommended to me for prostate surgery by another urologist who does not perform robotic surgery. My first visit with him and the surgery was quickly scheduled. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Johnston had me perform physical therapy at Neil King Physical Therapy to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and minimize urinary leakage that can occur after the surgery. The plan was to have me stay in the hospital 1-2 nights after the surgery but I was released the same day due success of the surgery. Recovery went very quickly and I had minimal leakage issues I believe in great part to the PT prior to surgery. Dr Johnston has a great website for setting expectation of the surgery and recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnston and his program.
I suffered from a recurring fungal infection for almost a year before coming to Dr. Johnston. But when I visited him on my PCP's recommendation, he quickly arranged for a surgery in a nearby hospital. Now the surgery has solved the problem. Thank you Dr. Johnston. Thank you Michigan Institute of Urology.

I was the recipient of a high PSA score from an annual physical (that was less than annual in recent years - cautionary tale) and was referred to Dr. Johnston. I came up with multiple reasons for why it couldn't be prostate cancer, but the numbers don't lie and a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis - prostate cancer. Dr. Johnston explained the options available along with the pros and cons of each, and my decision was for surgery. I did the needful to be in the best physical shape for surgery as well as to prepare for new realities, and the day of surgery went according to plan. I had one night in hospital and was walking 3000+ steps within 3 days of surgery, and I experienced no incontinence. You can do this - please listen to medical experts like Dr. Johnston who have your best medical outcomes in mind, versus your neighbor who has a buddy who knows a guy that somehow escaped the expected progression of this disease. You can do this, and Dr. Johnston is the doc to choose.

Had a very nice experience at Dr Johnston's office. Efficient staff, excellent blood draw and the Doctor had a great bed side manner. I recommend him.
Dr Johnston and Staff were fantastic. It’s 4 1/2 weeks since my robotic prostatectomy and I have had no leakage or any other complications. I did start pelvic floor exercises at Neil Physical Therapy about a month before surgery. I was back to work after 10 days and participated in full workouts at gym after 4 weeks. Dr Johnston is very skilled and checked on me personally several times postoperatively.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
