Most of the staff was caring and compassionate. The respiratory therapist were wonderful and on top of it. Shondrea would always make me smile by saying - Hello Gorgeous. I also liked Mike, Christian, and Tung were the best. Dr. Lee is wonderful! He was always looking out for me and what I needed. Gary, the Sppexh guy is a sweetheat.
Everybody here was so kind and courteous. I didn't get as much therapy as I anticipated. But I was on the high flow so I couldn't tolerate it. You hit the call light and they answer as soon as they can. They really are a team.
I recommend Select Specialty Hospital to everyone needing the care they have to offer. They are professional, experienced and the most caring staff I have ever known! This group of concerned people advocated for us(husband and I) to make sure we were able to celebrate our anniversary in style! Our case manager Brenda was very instrumental in this effort.I believe the staff helped my recovery progress steadily by their skill and their genuine caring for me as Jean and not just a patient. I f possible my stay was pleasant as any could be! Again Brenda my case manager was notice he could short of a miracle maker in arranging my discharge! Please don't sell yourself or your health short by not reaching out for this excellent health provider in West Michigan!
I was annoyed that I had to go to another hospital for care. But it was the best decision I ever made! Everybody here helped me a lot. Physically and mentally there was a lot of good support. These young kids here get you laughing and it’s good for the soul. I did have to push them a bit to let me push myself. If I hadn’t come here, I wouldn’t be as far as long as I am. And able to go home today. And let me say that as sick as I’ve been, this has been the most excellent care.
My name is Gerald, you don’t know me but I want to personally thank you and your entire staff for your patient-centered, compassionate care in the highest quality for the communities that you serve. Also for your integrity, commitment, advocacy and respect. Thank you. I appreciate you. Our communities need you.
I would recommend Select Specialty. They cared for my husband for many months. They were amazing, caring and very professional. The physicians, nurses, aids and office workers all deserve 10 stars for the great work they do!
My husband spent approx. 4 weeks at Select Specialty Hospital recovering from a very serious surgery and major complications/setbacks. Every single staff member, Nursing, PT, Physicians, you name them, are absolutely top notch. My husband was treated like family (they treat everyone that way). When it was time to be discharged, our Case Manager had everything set up so that he was safe at home and ready to take his next steps to full health. I highly recommend and we are so glad to have this type of medical care in our area.
The staff I met are all professional and willing to go above and beyond! Bree from Respiratory was very motivating. I had the intention of only being here 3 days and the team very kindly showed me I needed more help than I thought. It was humbling. I've been independent since I was 12 and this team took the time to respect my dignity and make it a personal experience. Beth from Rehab was easy to click with. She is very friendly to work with. Krishna is so caring! Didn't matter what you needed, she was there for you. I'd say all nurses were caring but Krishna kept me positive.
best hospital i have ever been in. the food was great and the staff was the best i mean the vary best i was there for a month and it seemed more like a vacation. thankyou everbody
You want to come here because this was the best place I’ve ever been! Better than a 5-star hotel. The team here went out of their way to get to the bottom of my issues and get me back on track. I went to another place, wasn’t there a day until they shipped me home. I went back in the hospital the next day. Finally that hospital got me here. Nurses and doctors were phenomenal! Bree was awesome! Dr. Simmons is awesome! Benji - my nursing assistant and Kyle, my nurse were awesome! I’d give them a 10 if I could. I can’t remember my one nurses name but she treated with so much dignity when I needed it, I’ll never forget her. Moose and Beth were so cool in therapy! They get a 10 star as well!,
I would recommend this place. The nurse were good and listened to me. The respiratory therapist were awesome! Make sure to bring a pillow!
I can’t say enough great things about Select Speciality. From the nurses, cnas, RTs, and case managers, everyone is wonderful. Everyone kept me in the loop. My dad was here for a month to recover after being in the icu on life support for respiratory failure. He is leaving the facility tomorrow to continue his recovery with NO vent or trach. Please consider Select for your family and friends. They treated him and I so well.
What can we say! Once we received a call almost immediately after Todd was received into Select Specialty Grand Rapids care from downtown hospital late into the evening, we had confidence that this was going to be a terrific place, and good for our loved one. This showed their great concern for the patient & the family.Once brother was admitted, and the work began to wean him off the vent & to facilitate his healing... SELECT SPECIALTY's staff, nurses, CNA's, Respiratory Therapists, OT & PT, each performed their jobs to the fullest. Their knowledge & professionalism stood out as the best in the industry. They did outstanding jobs! They have such professional staff that all deserve a BIG HUG, and a HUGE HIGH FIVE. They know their stuff! They even worked with our family to let 1 person visit due to Covid restrictions, and due to the nature of our loved one's issues.I/we would consider them all friends, & can't wait to maybe visit once restrictions are lifted to show our gratitude. Love to all!
They are pretty adamant about getting you off the ventilator, tracheostomy, and getting me healthier. Dr. Dyke is a nice guy who is very helpful. He's a character! The staff is very friendly, kind, and courteous. I would recommend this facility if someone need it.
I was very insecure about what I was going to encounter about coming here from ICU. My first night nurse really made me feel relaxed and better about me coming here. I didn't understand what this facility was for. We were very confused. Wished someone would have discussed this level of care better. I wouldn't have been so nervous.Honestly though, every nurse, aid, and respiratory therapist was wonderful! Gary - Speech Pathologist was excellent. Macie, my wound nurse was excellent. Physical Therapy was outstanding. They didn't push me, they knew what I could do and were great at describing the therapy to me. Everyone was great at encouraging me.This is a transitional unit.
I was almost at the edge of my life and you all pulled me back! It was painful but I needed to come back. I remember being in the Walmart when it hits me how sick I was. I made it home but started to go downhill. I only remember getting poked at my first hospital but that was it.Christian, my Respiratory Therapist - I call him Alakazam because he's a magician! Hes my first memory after being so sick. I love each and everyone one of the care members here. They put forth their best effort to save me and they did!
The days of patient care are gone, and this place is the shining example of failed healthcare facilities, more concerned with appeasement of executives than the actual care for patients and their families.Having had my mother in here for an extended period of time, all I can say is that her Nurse Justin was the only one that took his job above and beyond.Other nurses who would instead roughly move a patient from one bed to another, or talk rude and harshly to a patient that they believe to be in a diminished state of mind, is unacceptable. I was told that at one point my mother felt a nurse would be standing there and making her feel uncomfortable in the middle of the night. When bringing up concerns to the head of nursing, IF you can get a word in edgewise, you'll be graced with the typical and expected form reply of "all of my staff are good nurses", and this will be after you're spoken down to, for not having brought it to her attention sooner. Why would someone bring concerns forward, when this is exactly what was the expected response.I wish I could say something positive for the rest of the personnel. In this time of covid, their policy that "allows" you 4 hours a day to visit, but wont allow you to be there as emotional support to your loved one overnight. This in and of itself is requiring you to subject them to more of a threat by leaving and returning. In the elevator, there was a visitor that told me that they've had 6 different people visiting their friend, just using the same name that was authorized. So let's not fall for the pretend policy, as it appears it is in place to keep you away from observing your loved one receiving substandard care.If you don't get Justin as your or your loved ones nurse, go elsewhere. The only problem is that he isnt there the whole time.Seriously
The staff here is excellent. I was worried when I first got here but after the first few days the staff made me feel more comfortable about being here.
There were good days. There were bad days. I had great nurses. Night I had someone give me a stuffed puppy to keep me company and it helped me with my PTSD. The staff was really good about my PTSD. I made a lot of friends, they were really attentive to my needs for the most part. My respiratory nurses were awesome. Christian (RT Therapist) and Amber (RN) were really attentive to all of my needs. I can’t comment on the food because I couldn’t eat it. They made sure I got everything I needed.
My loved one had a great experience here at Select Specialty Hospital. We didn’t really know what to expect coming from the ICU, but the staff were all courteous and helped us through a very difficult time. I appreciated their responsiveness and willingness to listen to our needs. The physicians, nurses, therapy department, everyone was great!
