Told me "there's no pain associated with m.s!"

I was having issues with incontinence. My primary care physician referred me to doctor Ambani. At my appointment Dr. Ambani came in, had me do this test where you are laying down with your legs a certain way and cough (pants off, checking to see if your bladder leaks when doing so) yet I told him i just peed a few minutes before they called me back so my bladder was empty, then he told me "you're too young to be having these issues" (exact words) and walked out. A nurse came in with a prescription for oxybutynin. I asked what it was for and she said to help with bladder spasms/overactive bladder. I asked how the doctor could know that was what was wrong when he barely even looked at me, talked to me and basically only went off the referral notes. She told me to try it and if it didn't help then tell him that it didn't work and we could go from there, but he thought it was because I just had a baby a few months before. Bladder incontinence usually shows up soon after baby is born, not 5-6 months later. This medication made me retain urine instead because I do not have an overactive bladder so this medication was not letting me empty my bladder all the way which lead to bacteria forming. I do not get symptoms of UTIs, I have always been like this when it comes to them, until the infection spreads to my kidneys, which doesn't take long since I have other issues like an abnormally small bladder, short urethra, etc.) I have had this happen twice in the past, which he would have known if he would have bothered to ask or even stay in the room long enough for me to tell him. When Dr. Ambani prescribed this medication, which made me not be able to empty my bladder fully (I could push as hard as I could bc I could feel I had to go and nothing would come), it caused me to get a horrible infection that spread to my kidneys within a few days. I stopped the medication after 2 days of hardly being able to pee at all. I knew I had a kidney infection after about 4 days (hadn't taken the medication in 2 days) so I went to my primary to get checked and was told my protein levels were greater than 300, I needed to go to the hospital immedietally, that levels over 300 could mean your kidneys were shutting down. I was hospitalized for a week with IV antibiotics. I was released from the hospital 2 days before my next appointment with Dr. Ambani. When I told him what happened he never apologized, never even tried to help any further. He instead sent a referral to U of M. At least for that I can say thank you, for sending me to a doctor who actually cared about their patients. That was the only thing Dr. Ambani did at all besides cause me more damage to my kidneys and give me a week long hospital stay. I actually have nerve damage from a compressed nerve root in my spine causing my bladder to not react how it should, so no not from having my baby. I also did not have an infection prior to this medication and I know this bc I had just had my urine checked at my primary care physician before Dr. Ambani appointment. If Dr. Ambani would have even bothered to ask about anything he may have found out I had issues with my spine, but instead he didn't ask me anything and was more concerned with my age and that I just had a baby a few months earlier, then prescribed me a medication that made my bladder not work at all. Thanks for nothing, if I could give you zero stars I would.

I read the former review and her case is not only Dr. Ambani's sake, but the people who introduced her to this doctor. I encountered many times that large hospitals or organizations (even their reputations are not bad at all) introduce WRONG specialists to WRONG patients without checking them without reasonable considerations. WRONG doesn't mean bad in this case. But with my experience with my husband, the medical teams are not communicating properly, even lazy. They easily forget to call back the patient who just had a biopsy(=small surgery), even we asked them to contact us as soon as possible. They should inform us at certain TIME and occasions. Otherwise what is their job??? No good communications, no responsibilities, and in the end, no heart of caring--- just time-to-time workers. Where is the professionalism??? ''Selfishness'' is a big issue in medical system, I guess. If we have to go to a new place, needed at least 3 times to contact them to make any questions clear.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!!!!! He is so rude and disrespectful. I had a stent placed a week ago and I've been in the hospital 5 times with complications. I was released and sent to his office and (after waiting 45 minutes) he was in the room for 30 seconds and said he didn't have time to deal with a stent....so I ended up back in the ER today. They sure charged my insurance for an office visit though. WORTHLESS!!

Was never able to see the Dr. He might be ok. Office staff unable to recognize my insurance card. Thought it was my Rx card and would not accept it. My appointment was canceled and now they want to reschedule a new one for 2 months out.

Went in for a routine procedure - which they wanted a cash pre-payment for first. Odd, but went with it. The procedure went fine, was happy. Turned in to insurance, they paid, and 5 months later I'm still hounding them for a refund on my cash pre-payment. At this point, they have been paid twice, and have a list of excuses for why I need to wait longer. Very scammy - not sure if this is going to turn into a legal issue. You can't just double bill patients and hove they don't notice...

The office staff were courteous but there was a rush for treatment. The only basket that was labeled in the exam room was one marked "Surgeries." The exam was rough and the decision to biopsy was made prior to my visit or examination. Seemed unusual.

Very friendly staff and Doctor! Things were explained to me very well and I'm overall happy with my care here.
