Dr. Daniel Carr I am deeply disappointed by the care—or complete lack thereof—provided by Dr. Daniel Carr at Michigan Spine and Brain. Yesterday's appointment was easily one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. I came in to discuss serious, highly concerning neurological/spine issues, but Dr. Carr was completely unattentive and dismissive of everything I brought up. Instead of showing an ounce of empathy, he was incredibly arrogant and talked down to me throughout the entire visit. To make matters worse, his bedside manner was completely unprofessional; he actually made me feel as though my concerns were not important. He said, "neurologically what I was referring to made no sense." Yes he did say he need further imaging, but he needs to work on his tact with the patients. When a person is in a delicate state you should treat it as such. Not crush a person when they're already down. There is a way to talk to an individual without it being insulting. When you are dealing with spine and brain health, you deserve a specialist who listens, respects you, and takes your health seriously. Dr. Carr's behavior was insulting and dismissive. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a surgeon who actually cares about their patients.
I had one of the worst medical experiences of my life with Dr. Prashant S. Kelkar. The appointment felt rushed and dismissive from start to finish. After spending hours completing paperwork and taking the time to travel to the office, the doctor was in the room for barely two minutes before leaving. There was no meaningful discussion of my MRI results, no explanation of findings, and no effort to address my concerns. I felt completely unheard and disregarded as a patient. This visit was a complete waste of time and extremely frustrating. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone looking for thorough, attentive care.
My relationship with Michigan Spine and Brain Surgeons and Dr. Bono goes back 20+ years from when I was injured by a drunk driver that required a cervical fusion. Last year I was stopped at a red light and was hit hard from behind twice. The accident irritated my existing fusion from 20 years ago and I was in some real pain. Moving forward earlier this year Dr. Bono again performed a spinal fusion on my neck. As soon as I woke up the tingling down to my hands was gone and one of the nurses discribed Dr. Bono as 'an artist'. Not only is Dr.Bono THE BEST surgeon but he is also very thorough prior to and on my post op aftercare programs. Also shout out to the magnificent office staff. Efficient and friendly.😀 I Hope I never see Dr.Bono (which is too bad because he really is a very nice guy) again but I passionately recommend anyone who has Spine/Neck issues to Michigan Spine & Brain Surgeons and most importantly Dr.Peter Bono.
It’s been a while since I visited this practice, but Dr. Kelkar was kind and helped me with the issue I came in for. I have a very hypermobile neck and would have liked to follow up with him again to request a flexion/extension MRI due to ongoing concerns, but unfortunately, he no longer participates with my insurance. I understand things change, so no worries there! The reason I’m leaving 4 stars is due to a concerning interaction I had with the medical assistant who did my vitals/intake questions during my visit. While I was waiting, I began experiencing an allergic reaction to a new medication (though at the time, I mistakenly thought it was my detergent). A rash started spreading from my abdomen to my chest, and I asked if they had any Benadryl available after explaining the issue. She responded “no, sorry” without giving it another thought. She didn’t even ask if I was OK. I can kind of laugh about it now but I still have a hard time believing this office doesn’t have basic first aid items like antihistamines on hand or have access to them via one of the other medical practices in the building. Fortunately, the reaction wasn’t life-threatening, but by the time I got to my car, my rash had worsened, and my lips were swollen. I was so focused on it and getting home that I forgot to ask the surgeon some of the questions I had. I’m sure their office DOES have a first aid kit and maybe this employee didn’t remember or was being lazy, but it doesn’t sit well with me 9 months later.
My first surgery was in 2020. I was scheduled just ago the Covid shut down but Dr Soo managed to get me in as soon as possible so the internal stim could help me out. Now I am seeing Dr. Bono and will be having cervical fusion. I’m my first appts went great but I had to switch surgeons as Dr Soo retired. Dr Bono explained everything and gave me all the possible scenarios of what had to be done and what still needs attention in the future. He took his time answered all our questions left the room so we could talk and answered mor questions. I have decided to have the surgery for for C4-C7. More then likely T1-T4 as well as L3-S3 will need to be done sooner then later. But I know I will be in Good hands.
Dr Bono recently performed a fusion of my L4 & L5 vertebrae & for the first time in 6 months, I have no back pain! Highly recommend Dr Bono & his team -they were great!
This is an extremely busy office, as evidenced by how difficult it is to reach them by phone. They want things done via an app. I would have tests done and they would be sent here only to disappear. So I'd have to have them sent twice before the doctor would finally review them. They didn't seem very empathetic about how much pain I was in. In the end decided against using them for surgery.
I had an unstable fracture on my t-11 vertebrate occur 7/15/2023. Dr. Carr preformed a transfusion and place 4 rods and a cage around my spine. Since my surgery on 7/18/2023 my experience with him and his team has been nothing short of incredible. At no point did I not have 100% confidence in everything Dr. Carr said and performed. If you find yourself in a similar situation I believe this is the best place you could go in the state. Fast forward a year and I have extremely minimal pain, my life is almost completely back to normal prior to my accident and I as-well as my family are eternally grateful for Dr. Carr and all of his associates. Once again, Cannot recommend enough
Dr. Teck Soo is the best damn surgeon the world has ever been blessed with. His work is amazing and his kind, personable approach is unmatched. He is irreplaceable. I will miss him and remember all he has done for me for the rest of my life. Thank you and much love, Dr. Soo. See you on the other side.
Very pleasant experience everyone was very friendly and helpful I would very highly recommend this total family

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
