Almost every individual person is kind and considerate - the staff deserves 5 stars in terms of caring; however, they change out every 1 or 2 days and some come in and check on the patient way more than others. If the schedule were setup with some continuity it would make a world of a difference. A couple of the great nurses are Becky and Maria. The assistants are top notch. The system and communication are a zero. The Dr. comes around before and after visiting hours. When you try to get here early to see the Dr. you are turned away and told he can talk to you until sometime later in the day. There is no communication between all of the people and parts. I know this isn't uncommon but nonetheless, it's extremely frustrating.
Just transferred my mom from here today and have never been more relieved. I was asked by the Case Manager to rate their service. Unfortunately I was not able to rate individual service. I generously gave them a six. My mom was in a car accident on May 28th. She spent two weeks in critical care. She had 8 broken ribs and had a hard time coming off the vent. A trech and peg was done and after two weeks we had to make a decision on where to send her to be weaned off the vent and get the trech removed. Specialty Select was the only choice we were aware of. They only offer 4 weeks service and the respiratory staff did an amazing job getting her the proper treatment and weaning her off the vent. Some of the nursing staff and CNAs were excellent unfortunately the bad outweighed the good. She developed a yeast infection, and twice CNAs were witnessed putting the cream on to treat it and proceeding to use the same gloves to change all her bedding etc getting cream all over her and themselves. They would leave her this way not clean her up We would have to do it just to prevent from any further infections happening. She would push the button for a nurse and the minimum wait time I seen was 10 minutes. Often times she would have accidents because she couldn't hold it any longer. She was once told just to pee and they would clean her up later. I witnessed a CNA lie to a nurse's face telling her that she had just found my mom wet and changed her bedding. Blamed my mom for having accidents continually and not calling the nurses. visiting hours are only from 10:00 to 6:00 I dreaded every time one of us could not be with her. Her care when we were there was subpar I hate to think what it was when we were not there. I spoke to case management about the incidences that I witnessed thinking it would cause them to be cautious and ensure she got proper care but that was not the case. the longest 4 weeks of my life. I understand people are short-staffed but when you walk to the nurses desk and see individuals on their cell phones rather than paying attention to the call lights it really speaks volumes. Find another place to take your loved one .
Horrible environment, rude nurses, patient unattended too. Unprofessional operation all around, no sheets on bed working with minimal equipment . physical abuse, mental abuse. I could go on & on. Yes appreciative for the care I received aftercare was just a huge problem
My mom was here because she had a massive stroke and had to have multiple surgeries, including having a trach put in. We found out that one of the staff members at select was coming to work WITH COVID and exposed my mom to it!! Like, HELLO!! You work with people who are too sick to go home!! I don’t recommend you bring your loved ones here because CLEARLY some of the staff only care about a pay check!!
high quality care. loving staff and modern facility.
Your nurse "Jessie" on the 8th floor of the Harrison building is the worst. She has been nothing but mean and nasty to my uncle who is currently unable to speak or move. He spent the time to spell out to us that he no longer wanted this nurse assigned to him or in his room because she treated him poorly when no family was around. Despite the charge nurse advising that Jessie would no longer be allowed in my uncle's room she continues anyways. She has been rude for no reason to family members for asking questions. Today my 80 year old grandmother asked a question about my uncle's care...Jessie called security to have her escorted from the hospital for asking a question! How can we continue to trust his care to you when you cant hire or maintain a level of professionalism with your staff? These issues have been raised to "management " multiple times yet the behavior continues. Avoid the 8th floor of Harrison.
Although the circumstances that led me to this hospital were unfortunate, I am grateful for the care that was provided to me at Select. It wasn't an easy process, but today I get to discharge and can't wait to see my husband! I am grateful for the staff that kept me focused on my health and where I wanted to be. From the personal conversations with the dialysis RN to the wound care and nursing assistants who took the time to talk to me, I am grateful. Thank you to Select for caring for me!
Select Specialty Hospital - Saginaw was a top notch place who took excellent care of my wife while she was there. All of the staff were so very nice, respectful, and caring. After Dr. Adams saved her life at the Mid-Michigan hospital this was the next stop on her road to recovery. I am grateful to her case manager Tanika who worked so hard to ensure we could place her in a nursing home close to where she could be seen by family on a regular basis. Her care was outstanding and we plan to come back for a visit - but not a stay!
The specialized care is great. Dr.s are right on top of health issues.
i would never recommend this place. i feel my loved one did not get the best care she should of. yes there was some great nurses then there was not so good. i am so glad she is out of there
I wanted to take this time to write. My wife was treated at your facility recently. I am writing first, to thank you for all your help and concern while she was there. Even in a hospital setting, the atmosphere and time we spent there felt like more of a family after we got to know many of the people there. As much responsibility and busy schedule that the CEO has, he always took time out to say hello, and I was impressed how he remembers names, and have a knowledge of all that goes on there. The four and half months that my wife had been hospitalized has made been a long winter. But it was easier knowing that there were professionals dealing with her situation.I am writing also, make mention and express how much we have come to appreciate Shannon. She always goes out of her way, as busy as she is, to always help, answer questions, or concerns we had. It is very obvious watching her, knowing her, her work ethics, and abilities, that she is right where she belongs. She is a true asset to you there. Getting to know her , I also saw a real concern and compassion for people, that many today do not have. I was in supervision before I retired, and as you know there are many people who are placed in positions. It becomes obvious after a short time, that they do not have the talent, or skills, or judgment, or personality for that position. Shannon to me stands out as one of those special people, who you can trust, depend on, as well as know whatever situation she is put into she will take care to see it is accomplished well, professionally, and with integrity. No one enjoys a long stay in a hospital, but when the time comes, its refreshing to know that they will get the best care provided. My wife told me she wants to come in and see everyone, when she is well and back to her old feisty self. That infection and time in hospitals have taken a toll on her this past winter. I just wanted to write this quick note to again thank you.
Thank you for taking care of me while I was ill. The Nursing staff was nice and provide encouraging words to my daughter and I during our stay. The Staff at the McNally house was very accommodating and nice. The food could have been better but over I received good care while at Saginaw Select.
I had such a great experience at this hospital. I came from the Upper Peninsula and had no idea there was no closer facility to help me with my ventilator. Not only was I able to get off the vent, but I was able to get my trach removed before I went back to the UP. When it was time to leave I didn’t have any clothes and the CEO went out to the store and purchased me some so I was comfortable when I left. They treated me like a person and listened to me during my stay. I don’t know what I would have done without Select.
I was in a very bad car accident on Apri 19 and ended up with a broken right foot and a bone broken off the left ankle. After 2 surgeries I was transferred to Select Speciality Hospital in Saginaw. I have now been here for 3+ months and I have never been treated so great! I've had 7 surgeries (not counting these last 2) that have required only DAYS inpatient and have not been treated as well as here. They have all been so nice, kind and thoughtful concerning not only my physical state, but also my mental state at being in the hospital for SO long and not being able to put any weight on my feet! When I was admitted, there were still snowbanks in parking lots ~now we've got days in at 80° - 90° !!The RNs, CNAs, PTOT, housekeeping and even the CEO all have come in my room and asked how I'm doing. They were all genuinely happy when they saw me walk for the first time! Several of them have wanted to keep in touch and I said absolutely! And I WILL come back and visit!I've gotten quite a few hugs today...I'm being discharged tomorrow and they'll be off work!I want to say thank you to every person at Select Speciality Hospital for the wonderful treatment they've given me; the knowledge they've shared with me and the kindness they have showed me!
This hospital took great care of me and I could not be more happy with the care provided by everyone! Thank you for providing great care, I would recommend this hospital for anyone who needs more time to recover in a safe environment.
My father was transferred to this location from another hospital. The rep told my family the care he would receive would be increadible. It would be more intense 1 on 1 care and they would get him better. He was in icu before the transfer. Once transferred the care went from 2 patients to 1 nurse in icu to 5 patients to 1 nurse at select. He was on blood thinners in icu to prevent stroke/ heart attack . Once he arrived at select, he was taken off blood thinners. Less than a week later he had 2 strokes and his heart stopped 2 times and hes now DEAD. This place and the physicians killed my father. Enough said
"In the blink of an eye, your whole life changes." My husband unexpectedly suffered from a brain hemorrhage and required a craniotomy and mechanical ventilation. We discovered Select through the recommendation of the covenant staff. His stay at Select was WONDERFUL! We wished that he didn't have to leave! The caring staff should be commended! They were very attentive and their expertise and his hard work/determination led to his ability to graduate to the next level in his healthcare journey, Covenant Rehab. We are forever grateful and would recommend Select to anyone that has such a medical need!
Staff did remarkably well considering how overworked they are. Everyone try's to do there best despite their busy workload. Doctors have been good, however, there was one physician Dr. Mridha who said something to me that was difficult and couldn't provide me an anwser when I asked if I would be able walk again. In conclusion, it changed my positive attitude into a scared attitude. Several members of the select staff gave me continual words of encouragement and pep talks. Which helped to bring me out of the whole Dr. Mridha put me in. Select has given me everything I need while I was here. My next chapter will be instense therapy. I am excited to start the next chapter in life.
My husband is there now. Doing well. Just like anywhere you have the good and disappointing. overall it is going well. have helped his progress. I do feel they need a little more staff so they can focus on all patients when they have one needing more attention the ones doing well are put to waiting when they have a moment they get to them. I also feel OR should be there on the weekends.
I would like to thank the staff of Select Specialty Hospital - Saginaw for the wonderful compassionate care I received for the 7 weeks I was a patient. I appreciated all the kindness show to me by the CNAs, Nurses, RTs, physical & occupational therapy, pharmacy, housekeeping, dietary and discharge staff. My family was impressed and appreciative of all that you did for me.Thank you all for getting me through such a critical situation. Your compassion and friendship meant a lot to me. You all made my hospital stay very tolerable, even enjoyable. I knew I was in the right place to help my recovery. If I had to return because of my illness it would be to Select Specialty Hospital.
