Thank you to Dr. S. Woolever and his staff! What an amazing surgeon and team. My incision is in my opinion, is grade A+!!
Look at all his reviews not just the ones he wants you to see. He is horrible.
He did a knee replacement on my younger brother. Without bloodwork for taking blood thinners my brother sadly passed with a brain bleed and blood clots in his brain. It's sad to know he is still working.
Excellent care from a well qualified snd friendly staff, especially Renee helping with scheduling and other needs. With any professional I have found if you have a specific need or situation speak up! This staff listened and took the appropriate actions. Thank you all ! Great job Dr Woolever and staff!
was vert disappointed in the dr they told me he worked on elbows when i called guess what he doesnt seen him for maybe 5 minutes and that was it he told me to see wrobuski in petoskey so i went. same thing he doesnt work on elbows either why cant the people who makes the appointments find out for sure what the dr does instead of waisting my time to go see him
Dr.Woolever has taken care of several issues for me, knee scope, carpal tunnel and shoulder repair, all with wonderful results!
I miss Dr.Ganzhorn. Woolever can't tell my right knee from my left. Ridiculous.
I suffered a painful medial meniscus tear with clicking and popping when trying to walk. At 66 years old. I seen Dr. Woolever and the Mri confirmed the tear. My xray showed minimal degenerative bone changes with good spacing. I underwent surgery to have the torn section removed. The surgery went well with no issues. I had the opportunity to look around inside the Operating room before being put under anesthesia. Everything was immaculate and very well organized. Equipment was wrapped and sleeved. Everyone was prepared and ready to begin. An hour later I woke up in recovery pain free and relieved. Two hours later I was discharged and driven home after given post surgery instructions both verbal and written. I was given Motrin script for pain. I took it easy for three days and used ice multiple times a day, elevating my leg. I had minimal post op pain and swelling. I was able to walk but used a cane until I had my stitches removed a week later. I'm doing my own home PT to strengthen the knee and will continue to use a velcro knee brace until I'm confident its fully healed. The knee was stable right after surgery without any wobbling. There are many factors with meniscus tears and different outcomes, based on types and severity of tears and overall bone structures. It was all explained thouroghly to me prior to my decision to proceed. I made the right choice and was fortunate to have a very experienced Orthopedic surgeon and his team, get me back on my feet.
Before going to Dr. Woolever, I had to go to a specialist and then physical therapy. After my physical therapy was over it was visible that my knee had gotten worse. Then, I went to see him, he perscribed a brace (which three years later I am still wearing) and then told me to go to more physical therapy, (he knew pt made it worse) once I was out of pt for the second time, he prescribed another exercise (similar to the ones I had to do at pt) which didn’t help. Then he had me get an MRI and after looking at it for 10 seconds, he said “it looks fine to me” and never did anything more, even though the pain kept getting worse.
My granddaughter had broken her ankle and dislocated her knee, we were referred to Shane Woolever and kept the appointment. Harley is 10 years old so being concerned about any surgery on her, I reached out on Facebook to friends and family asking should we get a second opinion, seeing it was 90% positive we decided to go ahead with the surgery. We too Harley to the hospital she was prepped and ready. The last minute Dr. Woolever walked in and said, "I'm cancelling surgery" my daughter asked why,he said I think you know, she said no I dont, he said "Do you have social media?"and at that point my daughter knew he was referring to my post. His arrogance was unconscionable we were completely at a loss. Would I recommend him, NEVER

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
