What a joke. I waited 2 hours for my appointment; when Dr Gilmer finally came in she did not ask me ANY questions, she took a very quick glance at a 2 year old MRI and told me I didn't have Chiari. That was it, she was done with me. She didn't explain anything, she didn't answer my questions. Her PA had sat and asked me many questions, had ordered a new MRI and had shown me the areas on my old MRI that showed signs of Chiari. When she tried to speak after the Dr came in the Dr shut her down. She said "it" mimics chiari, but she never said what "it" was. I would never refer this Dr to anyone! She is rude and arrogant.

Dr. Gilmer is a joke. She talked down to us as if we knew nothing. was very abrupt with my child. totally lacks compassion. very self absorbed. lives in her own world. She is not fit to be a doctor. How is she even practicing?? She needs to be investigated

Dr. Gilmer-Hill did my Son's VP Shunt revision in 2005 and he has been good ever sense. No more surgery!!! Thank you, Charles W Sims III and family.

I will strongly not recommend having Dr Gilmer do any sort of surgery for you. she did not help my situation at all then proceeded to give up on my case and stated that I should just quit my job, sell my condo. live with my parents, because that is what most people do in my case....must be nice to make 6 figures and screw with peoples life.

Dr. Gilmer is a God send. She took pain away that had stolen my quality of life for 10 years after a MVA. I can't recommend her highly enough. She's a very caring, understanding and empathetic person as well. I am grateful to her everyday that I no longer wake up feeling like a tank is parked on top of my head.

She did my son’s surgery on June 16th 2021 and she did my moms also 7 years ago and we was every bit of amazing my son is healing well and we just had our appointment with her yeasterday. She is super calm and patient even when my son doesn’t want to cooperate!

Dr Gilmer fixed my 3 yr old sons chiari malformation. Everything went smoothly. He was having very serious problems prior to surgery. Her team got him evaluated quick and surgery scheduled ASAP. It is now going on 2 yes and he is thriving! Thank you so much!

My 13-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Chiari. Dr. Gilmer did her surgery and two years later my daughter is doing great. In fact she felt better immediately after the surgery and returned to her normal activities within a month. Yes you may have to wait hours to see her, but it is worth it. There are some doctors I choose not to wait for, those that I can find someone else to do the same thing. Not in this case. She’s the only one you want. Some of the complaints I see in the reviews just show that people don’t understand the nature of neurosurgery. And just because someone has been and wanted results from the surgery does not necessarily mean that it was the fault of the surgeon. Dr. Gilmer is a specialist, highly sought after and highly in demand. She is very very busy and goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care and treatment to all her patients. She was so kind to my daughter who was obviously terrified, and took the time to calm her fears and answer her questions. My daughter was worried about having her hair shaved and on surgery day Dr. Gilmer personally braided my daughter’s hair herself while they were prepping her in the surgery room! She made sure she didn’t take one hair more than she needed to. She even attended the Conquer Chiari Walk fundraiser and walked with us. Dr. Holly Gilmer is the very best neurosurgeon, especially for Chiari malformation. But she is also an extremely kind and caring person. I trusted her 100% to treat my daughter’s Chiari malformation, and she came through. We couldn’t be happier with the results! Dr. Gilmer is a brilliant neurosurgeon and a lovely person!
