Matthew Davis Md's Online Review Report Card

He was the worst psychiatrist I've ever worked with. He didn't believe me when I told him things, he didn't prescribe the medications I needed, he ignored my worries/concerns, and overall made my mental health much worse.

Unwilling to try different medications when current medications were not working. Pushes therapy probably so your mental illness is not his responsibility. Sadly, people with mental illness commit suicide because of doctors like him that refuse to listen and restrategize. Those feeling suicidal feel like no one cares or can help with a doctor like Davis. I don't understand why some people become doctors; he should have just worked in a lab. If you are suffering do not go here.

Office staff was very friendly and quick moving paperwork and processing. Had to wait a few months to get my first appointment but Dr Davis came highly recommended by other Physicans and friends. I thought he was through with his questions and really listened and explained my med options to understand the effects of each. Felt very comfortable with his recommendations

Absolutely abysmal. Dr Davis was condescending, and demonstrated an obsolete knowledge of his specialty. He did not know the difference between "dissociative disorder" and the sort of "traumatic disassociation" often experienced by persons with PTSD. He had absolutely no interest in this case, and although he expressed knowledge that the local VA is oversaturated and unable to provide adequate care for veterans in the area, he refused this case. Dr Matthews is a prime candidate for early retire.

Had to wait months to go here planning to see Dr Christianson and got thrown to Dr. Davis who disregarded my mental illness. I suffer from anxiety and after prescribing me an SSRI that was terrible he scoffed at me for stopping taking it and decided his only option was to start taking it again, he didnt schedule me a follow up or change my medication, clearly he is not a caring professional! He gave me a med with the side effect of suicide and then released me back to not having a DR.

Dr. Davis told me at one point I'm not here to really talk with you, I'm here to give you your medication if you feel you need to talk to someone you need a counselor.

I would never recommend Northstar Center or Dr. Davis. Extremely long wait time to get in. Front office staff not friendly. They are not in the business of helping people. No compassion for metal illness or depression.

First mistake of his was not letting my patient advocate into the room with me, said he didn't work that way...this was a consult for goodness sakes, I've NEVER had a doctor not allow someone else in the room with me for something like that. Questioned me about my meds intensively, as if I'm supposed to remember every.single.drug I've ever been on? He is pompous and cold and I can't understand why someone like this actually thought it would be a good idea to get into psychiatry when you have to deal with people with mental issues. Personally, it took me time to recover from my experience with him being so impersonal and not seemingly taking me seriously and treating me like I really don't suffer from my ailments, that I must be faking it or something. Find someone else to go to for your psychiatric needs, even though this county is a barren wasteland when it comes to good psychiatric doctors.

First impression, only interested in prescribing drugs, doesn't seem to have any real concern about his patients. And is never available, when needed, after prescribing the wrong meds!
