Do not go to this doctor, he is the worst I have ever meet, I had 2 appointments, my first appointment he wanted to cut me open. My 2nd appointment months later he refuses to give me 2nd mri to see where my back is. Yet he says I can go back to work with a herniated disc with a tear in it. Been getting a ring around with his office for Months now. Go somewhere else. Since i had a good experience through this office with a prior surgery I was referred back to them after a recent MRI. Very brief meeting with his PA and briefer meeting with Dr. Woods where I was shown my MRI film and told that my back looked "really good" and PA pointed out that the "screw from the previous surgery 6 yrs ago was still in place". I am very pleased with Dr. Woods and his team. I fell and hit a wall, ending in a broken neck and paralyzed right arm. After 8+ hours in surgery, and after 4 months time with therapy and exercise I now have about 80% use of right arm and gaining strength every day.

For years I had pain shooting down my legs. It didn't matter if I was walking or just standing still. I had steroid shots at the pain clinic. The shots helped for only a few hours. No fault to the pain specialist ... my issue was beyond that point. I went to physical therapy ... again, nothing, no change in pain. I was referred to Dr. Rafeek Woods, MD at Lakeland Neurosurgery. I liked him from the start. He was very confident that he could correct my spine issue with a spinal fusion. After the surgery was completed, and I was over the affects of the anesthetic, my nurse had me walk around the hospital. I had no more pain shooting down my legs. The pain from the surgical site was minor. Ibuprofen worked to ease the surgery pain. At the surgical site I wasn't stitched together... I was glued together. There were no stitches to dissolve or be removed. I could take showers at any time. It's been 3 months and I'm back to normal.

Dr Woods treated me for lower back pain. He was wonderful at taking his time to explain every step taken before surgery. I am ecstatic that he solved the problem and today I am pain free. He and his staff are the best. I highly recommend him
