Too much to say but its not necessarily on Dr. Schermerhorn but on his office, I should have had my surgery 2 1/2 months ago( even giving time for transfer of papers, getting my tests done- (I did that in 3 days time) and pre-auth, but nothing BUT negligence on his office workers. I am now under care of a fantastic office and surgeon down in GR. What a difference!** I felt very pro active in my relations at Dr. Schermerhorn's office, but that never helped. Been out of work and now the delay hurts me more 😢
Dr Pearl is amazing. She explained every detail and made us completely at ease during the whole process leading up to and including the serious surgery my wife had. A great addition to your staff.
Didn't stay on top of post op appointments. Now seeing another neurosurgeon trying to fix what he didn't. I'm over a year out and just now wearing a bone stimulator, something that should've been done sooner than later. I'll stick with my UofM doctors.
I have multiple issues including Primary osteoarthritis Multiple joints including vertebral column, , osteoporosis, DDD with complications cervical area and lumbar buldging discs, Chronic pain secondary to multiple joints OA, Chronic pain etc etc... Doctor Campbell has ordered an EMG d/t ulnar involvement. He took his time explaining things to me and even though I'm an RN is spent a lot of time discussing what was wrong and what the plan of attack will be. You will have a good experience I can reassure you of that
Dr. Schermerhorn performed a Foraminotomy and Microdisctomy on me. Found other debris and cleaned that up as well. He and the staff were wonderful. He had a comforting bedside manner. He also spent a lot of time with me to alleviate fears and answer questions. I am very satisfied!
It's been 10 years now since my surgery with Dr. Schermerhorn. I have recovered fully now from my C3-C7 fusion with instrumention, meaning adding rods and bolts to support my neck. This was done due to severe spinal stenosis that was most likely congenital. Dr. Schermerhorn was extremely patient with my questions and fears. He visited me very often in the hospital and closely monitored my nursing care. He truly saved me from potentially being paralyzed for the rest of my life. He was kind, good natured, very supportive, and completely thorough. I don't see him any longer for follow up but I want you to know what a great doctor and human being he is.
I had no experience at all...because they cancelled three separate appointments! When they called to reschedule the fourth appointment - now seven weeks later with unresolved back pain - I told them I'll find someone who cares. Apparently they have enough patients.
Munson is very fortunate to have Dr. Campbell on board! Back in December of last year, a family member of mine developed a cancerous brain tumor that had metastasized from another part of the body. We were fortunate to see Dr. Campbell immediately and within 1 week of all the blood tests and imagery, surgery was performed. Surgery went amazing and we were home after just 2 nights. It is now June, 6 months post surgery, and there has been absolutely no sign of the cancer coming back and my family member is back to work, living a wonderful life. Dr. Campbell is very personable, knowledgeable and compassionate. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a neurosurgeon in Northern Michigan.
Had appointment to see Dr. Campbell in March in Prudenville (he is only there once a month) for severe back pain, he canceled! Had to endure pain for another month. Then in April he tried to cancel again so we had to instead drive to Traverse City in bad weather to see him. Tried to give him a copy of xrays, ct and MRI but he said he had seen all he needed. I had filled out and sent a 9 page health questionnaire the ofc sent me and he obviously hadn't looked at it because he asked me all the questions again. Then after the exam, he told me he couldn't help me. Suggested nerve blocks, physical therapy or chiropractic (I've done all but nerve block already). Just kept saying he couldn't help me and exited the room. Afterwards he called my regular doc and told him if he fixed where it hurts now, it may adversely affect above there down the road! Well DUH!! So either fix them both or at least the one now. I'm in severe pain, can't live a normal life any more. Getting a second opinion soon. I have a feeling , upon reading another post that I'll be eternally glad he didn't operate on me!! May have dodged a bullet by the sounds of the other review.ADDITION: Since this review, I went to Dr. Jay Jagannathan who comes to West Branch several times a month from Troy, MI. He is one of the ten top neurosurgeons in the country! Within a couple weeks I had my surgery. Dr. Jay is amazing, he fused a couple vertebrae, freed a pinched nerve and straightened some scoliosis. I'm six weeks post surgery now and feeling great. There is still some recovery involved but at least now I can look forward to being pain free. I wouldn't send my dog to Dr. Campbell but I've been recommending Dr. Jay to everyone I can!
DR. KENNETH LOUIS OF MUNSON NEUROSURGERY TRAVERSE CITY MICHIGAN . A SCAM IS IN OPERATION FOR EXTRA BILLING BY THIS DOCTOR TO TORTURE PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH CHRONIC SPINE PAIN FROM DAMAGED DISCS BY PUTTING THEM THRU A TORTUROUS AND DANGEROUS SIX WEEKS OF PRE-SURGERY DIAGNOSTIC SO CALLED PHYSICAL THERAPY AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED . I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS IS FOR EXTRA BILLING FOR PRE-SURGERY DIAGNOSTIC PHYSICAL THERAPY AND POST-SURGERY PHYSICAL THERAPY. OBVIOUSLY DESIGNED TO FORCE THE MOST SEVERELY INJURED PATIENTS TO DROP OUT OF THIS FRAUDULENT PRE-SURGERY DIAGNOSTIC PHYSICAL THERAPY. AND NOT GETTING THE SURGERY SO DESPERATELY NEEDED, SUFFERING IN SILENCE WHILE HEAVILY MEDICATED. PHYSICAL THERAPY PRE-SURGERY CAN CAUSE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AND PAIN. SIX WEEKS OF UNNECESSARY PROCEDURE IS COSTLY, UNNECESSARY AND FRAUDULENT .

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
