Most unprofessional medical place I've ever been to in My Life you wait over 3 weeks to get a time for your surgery they want to give you less than 24-hour prep time for timing and scheduling before surgery and then once I set the time they want to call you in three and a half hours early for a surgery for no reason!!!!!!! I had an excellent experience from start to finish. Dr. Green is an excellent, gifted surgeon who took all the time necessary to explain the surgery and post-op process to me directly. I have seen a lot of comments about the staff at the office and I feel these comments are juvenile and unnecessary. A random bad experience with a receptionist should not devalue the excellent care you will receive at this practice. Everyone is allowed to have an "off" day. Dr. Williams answered all my questions in an easy to understand manner. I am very happy with the referral to this office from my primary physician.

Dr. Mitchell and his nurse Pat were incredible during a very trying time for my Mother. They took excellent care of her wound and gave me some faith in the medical community again.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and Dr. Williams got me in right away to see her. She set me at ease and answered all my questions.

Every medical professional at West Michigan Surgical Specialists that I dealt with treated me as if I were family. I truly fealt cared for by them. I highly recommend seeing Dr. DeJong. He's all the things one would want in a surgeon.

The surgeons are great but communication in the office is terrible. They don’t call back or keep you informed. I had to be my own advocate and schedule my own pre-op exams and tests. If they did call back to answer a question it would be over a week later.

I had a referral placed to Dr. Vanderkolk from my primary care physician. When I went in for my consultation he was extremely professional and encouraging. The rest of the staff was excellent as well. One person that stands out in particular is nurse Mary. After Dr. Vanderkolk read my biopsy results, he ordered a referral to a surgical oncologist. I couldn’t hear the name he mentioned and a couple days had gone past so I started researching surgical oncologists. I found one I liked so I called West Michigan surgical specialists and asked if I could be sent to them. Mary was placing the referral and was so patient with me. She explained why the Dr. was wanting to send me to the specialist she listed and told me to call her back after I was able to do my research. (Yes I was being that pain in the butt patient). Mary told me that it was ultimately my decision who I have treat me and that it is important that I’m comfortable with who is in charge of my care. Cancer is a scary word and it was just so comforting to have been met with such grace and compassion. Thank you west Michigan surgical specialists, Dr. Vanderkolk, and especially Nurse Mary.
