My regular MD was unable to make an appointment due to a busy day. I was offered an appointment with Dr. Julie Gerth. She is wonderful, skilled and attentive to my problems. I was under her care for several weeks as she found the solution. I am a retired health care professional and highly recommend Dr. Gerth. Jackie Dziuk

Dr Gerth took time to listen to my concern and prescribed the best medication to treat it. She appeared to not only treat and diagnose but had a holistic approach also to her care.

I had a very poor experience with Dr. Gerth: I made an appointment for 3 issues because, as I mentioned to her, I was on a high-deductible plan. Dr. Gerth clarified that we had to limit it to 2 in an appointment—Fair enough, I told her the 2 issues I wanted to cover. 10-15m into the appointment, we had only discussed my first issue, I went for lab work, and realized that our appointment was over. I didn't get to discuss my second issue, a routine prescription refill. Chalking this up to miscommunication/an honest mistake, I left a voicemail for Dr. Gerth explaining the situation and asking if she wouldn't mind refilling the prescription over the phone. I was never contacted by Dr. Gerth again. A nurse called back explaining I'd need to make a second appointment ($200 a visit). I have never had a serious complaint about a physician before; in fact, I've mostly had very positive experiences with my doctors. But I won't be risking another appointment with Dr. Gerth, and have advised family and friends in Apple Valley not to take the risk either. This has also altered my perception of Apple Valley Medical Center—AVMC used to be my primary care clinic. Now, when my regularly AVMC doctors are not available, I have been going to other clinics or eDoctors and generally been pleased with with patient-centric care. Bottom line: For as much as health care costs, especially if you have a high-deductible plan, you want decent care: In my experience: Tammy Johnston, Drs. Steichen and Frederixion are fantastic (and I'll continue to go to them when convenient) but Dr. Gerth and Apple Valley Medical Clinic in general are not worth taking a risk on.

I am a new patient of Dr. Gerth and am very pleased with my interactions with her. I saw her originally for a yearly physical and then twice more with a medical issue. She listened to my issues and worked out a treatment while explaining all options. She addressed all my concerns in a caring manner. I am very pleased with the exceptional care and concern I received.

Comes across as rather cold and aloof, scoffed at my concern over an issue that had been very troublesome for several days. Her nurse also guessed my weight at 30 pounds heavier than I actually was, almost seemed like an insult.
