Now I have had a surgery before to correct my ankle ligaments being torn but I had torn them in my right ankle again , I went to see dr pena and he didn’t even need to run any scans to determine it was torn and recommended surgery I went in right before Christmas , he also removed a screw that was causing me pain in my left but all was done so quickly but something new I did experience was after for my bandage change they gave me his notes from the operation and by the notes the damage was extensive and he had to place more screws my ankle has been fine since and have no instability no his bedside manner isn’t great but tbh I never had a doctor more straight to the point than him 🤷🏾‍♀️

Dr Peña or as I called him doctor injection. Misdiagnosed my broken foot for a ankle Debrdemnt he told the pain I was feeling was not hurting me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM. He has the biggest chip on his shoulder

Dr. Pena performed surgery on my toe. Following the surgery I was in a great deal of pain and reached out. His nurse relayed that Dr. Pena said that I could take Acetaminophen which I explained had not helped. After a few dismissive emails I gave up. After a month of excruciating night pain, I went into my follow-up. He then told me I had neuropathy and prescribed a medication. That night was the first time I slept pain free. Unfortunately, I had to wait a month before he would listen to me. In addition, after 3 months in a boot he told me I could do any physical activity I wanted. I am still unable to walk without pain. I will consult a new doctor should this continue.

I suffered a Lisfranc injury to my foot, quite a severe injury. The first surgeon I saw told me I'd had a "life-changing injury," and the worst case he'd seen in 10 years. At the end of the appointment, he said he would not "even touch it," and instead referred me to Dr Pena. At my TRIA consult appointment, I was extremely impressed by the staff and their efficient, supportive patient care. Dr Pena's PA met with me and explained that there were 2 possible surgical scenarios. Dr Pena then came in, after reviewing my case, and let me know he thought he could fix my Lisfranc injury with 3 screws. That was exactly what he did during a very successful surgery. I was started on a PT program shortly after surgery, had the hardware removed 9 months later - results (early on + current) have been phenomenal. It's 3 years now since my surgery - I run and play pickleball most days each week. I have zero lingering issues from the injury and couldn't be more grateful for the skilled work of Dr Pena.

Dr. Pena and his entire staff are exceptional. My special needs adult sister fractured her ankle severely and Dr. Pena, his PA, Jessica McDonald, nurse coordinator Diane, and the rest of his staff were very caring and listened to my questions about my sister's treatment plan. Dr. Pena was able to perform her surgery two days after evaluation. His staff communicated all her needs following surgery effectively with me and her care facility. They had a great follow up plan in place. Dr. Pena's skill in surgery is exceptional. I highly recommend Dr. Pena and Tria team of healthcare professionals at the Bloomington location.

Dr. Pena performed flat foot reconstruction surgery on my son. We were told by two other orthopedic surgeons that the surgery would take hours. Dr. Peña finish the surgery in less than an hour. We were sent home even though our son was in excruciating pain. He suffered for two weeks because every time I called the clinic I was told it was to be expected. He had four incisions on his foot and when they took the cast off they had all opened up due to a massive blood clot in his foot. You could actually see the bone in his heel. Dr. Peña refused to admit there was a problem. Our local orthopedic group did the best they could to try and clear up the infection which had gone into the bone. Sadly, 14 months later our son had to have his lower leg amputated. I filed a complaint with the hospital that the surgery was performed in and still was told that Dr. Pena did nothing wrong. I wish we had read some of these reviews prior to my sons surgery and maybe he would still have his leg.

Dr Pena performed surgery on my ankle. On my last visit I told him my tendons were popping and I was in a great deal of pain. He told me I just needed more therapy. That additional therapy tore my tendons even more. He did not care about me, he was abrupt, rude, no compassion. I asked about having another xray or MRI. He said “if something blew up in there it wouldn’t show anyway. I went for a 2nd opinion and that surgeon did an MRI and it showed that the tendons had torn even more. I have nothing good to say about this man!
