United Hospital District's Online Review Report Card

I am thankful there is a hospital in blue earth for when people need it. Unfortunately I have had a lot of issues with billing and am having a hard time wanting to get back here by choice. The hospital staff is okay, I haven’t had any issues personally. The big issue i have had are charges on my account, calls about paying them and then soon after they are taken away and I am presented with a different charge. This makes me not want to pay the charges when they call me about them, as they have taken and presented charges randomly (and why pay charges that they are just going to take away and not charge you) I am super disappointed with how they go about charging people. I also think they are overpriced and being dishonest and lazy. For example, I had a procedure that needed to be done and I struggled for a month and a half, trying to get UHD to accept the order from a specialist in Mankato and giving me a price on how much it would be out of pocket. I called them several times and not once did they try and reach out to me. I was then quote for that procedure- 4 times more expensive at UHD than going to a doctor who specializes in this procedure in Mankato (even when paying out of pocket, the whole amount the same day). Then I got a call from UHD saying that my insurance will cover the procedure and they wanted to schedule. I told them I would need to check with my insurance because they have told me before they do NOT cover this procedure. Sure enough, I called my insurance and they assured me they didn’t cover it, and I would be paying out of pocket. Super disappointed, wouldn’t recommend going here if you had the choice.

For the most part I am very happy with the care I receive here. But I have one major complaint. If you use the counciling service here they put literally everything you talk about in your general chart so literally any one who can see your chart ethically & unethically can see very private information. That includes any specialty clinic like mayo or Sanford clinics and once Sanford joins with the clinic system in twin cities ( Fairview if I recall correctly). That's way to many clinics employees that can see information that only your councilor should have access to. Uhd will not remove this information from general view, they stupidly believe periodically checking to see who's accessed your chart later for appropriate acess is some how protecting your privacy rights. That's Not even close to protecting your privacy, that nothing more than house cleaning inappropriate actions after the fact. If you are seeking counseling, go someplace else unless you don't care if anyone that works in medical field can see what your dealing with ( and potentially your issues could become a topic of local gossip, my sisters a retired nurse, so I know things are shared that should have remained private). Bottom line, don't use couciling services through this clinic.

Rude nurses that talk back and give you more pain then help. one put in an iv into my arm, the pressed on it with her weight. pain was so bad I couldn't yell for help. Nurse in training on other side watching, didn't say a word! When abusive nurse left, I told the nurse in training she hurt me, and please report this. She said I cannot, I could be let go. 3 days after I was home, I found a large painful lump on my arm. I went to a hand and shoulder doctor to get relief. I told him my problem. He found a blood clot on my arm. He ace wrapped it and said keep this on for 3 weeks. Never will I go to United Hospital AGAIN!

I will be making the hour or more drive to come to this hospital regularly. I’m late in posting this as I received care in July 2022. I’m 29 years old and they diagnosed and treated me immediately with something that all other doctors have dismissed since I was 13, other doctors saying it was just “anxiety.” Not to be dramatic but this care has quite literally changed my life and in the long run, saved it. I praise God for the answers. I am so grateful for the team here. For clarification this was a one time ER visit and I have not yet seen a regular doctor here yet. I am looking forward to it.

Absolutely some of the best care we have ever received. My daughter who has rare immune deficiency, and always gets the rare illnesses was treated thoroughly and thoughtfully. The doctor said that he had only seen 2 other people in his career with her medical condition. Most doctors dismiss it because there is not alot known about it, but this doctor acknowledged and allowed us to explain her condition to him. Absolutely amazed and would completely drive the drive to go back again! Thank you all!!

The care is excellent. We have always been treated like we are family. Our community is so lucky to have health care like this locally.

I have never had an issue here. If I can't see my doctor right away, I can see a NP. I like that I can get my blood work done on site. I haven't had to wait long in the waiting room, no more than 5 minutes.

Delivered both my babies there, everyone from the OB, to the nurses, to the girls in the lab, to the hospital staff went above and beyond in making us comfortable the entire pregnancy. They also all went out of their way to ensure our babies were born healthy and we felt like we mattered. Amazing experience.

I cannot rave about Dr. Montanaro and all of the staff at UHD. Our 5th child was born this past Wednesday and we received the best care. All of the hospital employees work together so nicely as a team! They each play such an important role and helped our experience to be so special. Dr montanaro and his nurse Nikki were above and beyond for my entire prenatal experience. They worked closely with ultra sound tech Dana & L&D nurses. They were all so so wonderful, they closely monitored our child and helped us stay informed of our babies growth. Our birthing experience was so special thanks to the L&D nurses, and Doctor Montanaro. Our family was overwhelmed by the amount of support, education, and all kinds of goodies we left the hospital with. If you are looking for a positive hospital birthing experience I can not recommend Dr. Montanaro and awesome team at UHD. Our 4 other children were born in hospitals in big cities as we didn’t live in the area at the time they were born. Those experiences pale in comparison in the care we received from UHD. Way to go!
