Keith Carlson's Online Review Report Card

When I needed to find an ophthalmologist, Dr. Carlson came highly recommended by a friend who had cataract surgery performed by him. I had a great experience and was treated well by both Dr. Carlson and his staff. He is a great doctor, very thorough, informative, and took the time to listen and address my concerns. I never feel rushed through my appointments like some other clinics where you are just a number. I feel confident in trusting Dr. Carlson with my eyecare. I would highly recommend and have since sent my brother to Claris to have lasik done!

Poor communication throughout the process about procedures and financial concerns. Given opposing answers when I had questions. I felt like I was treated like cattle.

A very highly skilled surgeon, caring and explained in detail exactly what would work best for me. Dr. Carlson's entire team were very competent and patient in answering my numerous questions. My cataract surgery went extremely well and I remember how confident, calming and reassuring Dr. Carlson was during the surgery. I was very appreciative of that. In my right eye I had laser surgery and a toric lens was used to help correct astigmatism and distance vision. For my second surgery on my left eye, I had the traditional incision and lens to correct my near vision. I now have what is called mono-vision where my right eye is for distance and my left for reading and near vision. Dr. Carlson confirmed that I was a good candidate for this type of surgery. Both surgeries were flawlessly performed and were perfect for my situation. I now have 20/20 vision and no longer need glasses. I can't even begin to explain how blessed and thankful I am to be enjoying such great eye sight. My cataract surgeries were done around 9 months ago and there were no complications. Almost everyday I am still amazed by the clarity in my vision, both in distance and near vision. I thank God for Dr. Carlson and my fantastic new vision. I highly recommend him wholeheartedly.

Very disappointed with IOL lenses. Can't see close up w/o glasses, and that is why I chose IOL lenses! Floaters still big issue, and that's after having spent $10G out of pocket. ANYONE getting IOL, beware! Was told likely 10% of time in dark restaurants and night driving might need glasses, but now I need them over 50% of time for reading and computer work. Was WAY oversold on what these lenses would do and I still have serious floaters that significantly affect my vision and I don't have close up vision. I was impressed by staff, but performance of my eyes is a D. So overall I give a C- rating.

Dr. Keith Carlson did an amazing job with my lasek eye surgery. Very professional and gave his honest opinion throughout the process. Before the surgery, Dr. Carlson made sure I was well informed of my options and how the surgery would work, how the recovery process would be closely monitored, and what eye drop medications I would need to use during my recovery. The surgery itself did not hurt and the staff helping during the procedure were very knowledgeable. As someone who wore glasses for 13 years and contacts for about 8 years for long hours, I was ready to not have to worry about bringing contact solution and glasses everywhere I went. I had my Lasek surgery May 14th and I am happy to say I am 20/15 today I'm both eyes without any corrective lenses. I can do fun things now like go kayaking and actually see the shore line! I can jump into a pool or lake without losing a contact or needing to wear goggles. I wake up in the morning and can actually see my ceiling fan! Most of all, I can work long hours at the hospital without needing to change out of my contacts and into glasses half way through my shift. I highly recommend Dr. Keith Carlson to my family and friends and encourage you to see him for a consult if you're considering this life-changing procedure.

I feel a moral responsibility to share my story. Worst experience I've ever had and I've seen a lot of doctors. Please do not trust Dr. Carlson with your body. Not only was his office the most rude, unorganized, and dismissive they could be... the doctor didn't seem to my overall health concerns, assuring me that I needed a hip surgery on my torn labrum(s). My hip dislocated about 6 weeks after surgery while shaving my legs. This caused all sorts of internal issues and the need of another surgery to salvage as much as they could. We still aren't sure why my hip would dislocate, unless something terrible had gone wrong in surgery.. but maybe I just moved wrong? Who knows. I got a 2nd opinion from a doctor that let me know he doesn't recommend ever doing surgery on someone of my age for a simple torn labrum which can be treated using physical therapy (I was only barely 30 years old). He let me know I should never have had surgery in the first place. Dr. Carlson said I need surgery on my other hip labrum as well, heck no!! When in the ER from dislocation it took many phone calls and threats from my husband before Carlson's office obliged the ER doc and released my information from surgery. The ER doc simply wanted the surgery info before putting me under and resetting my hip. Then, with my revision surgery a week later I had complications coming out of anesthesia. Dr. Carlson was unable to be reached so I laid there in agony for a long while with nurses running around trying to get in touch with any surgeon willing to help me, since Carlson seemed nowhere to be found. These complications landed me overnight in the hospital for 4 days. At my "last" follow-up Dr. Carlson let me know everything is fine with my hip and he is happy with the outcome, even though I still can hardly walk up the stairs almost 6 months later. Even if he knows what he is doing this doctor at the very least should take at a long hard look at the number of surgeries he should handle in a year, perhaps he is too overworked. I'm generally a very kind and patient person, but I feel my moral responsibility to share my story, albeit rare. Please do not choose this doctor, any doctor but this one.

I would not recommend this provider. I went to him because of the positive reviews for his services, However, my experiences were not positive. I was given the wrong prescription for my eyeglasses TWICE. No apologies, No explanation. I was told by his staff that I didn't need to see him, I should be seeing an Optometrist instead, despite the fact that I had been told that due to a previous surgery I should be seeing an Opthamologist. I wrote a letter to explaining my issues...no response

I am an aphakia patient and went for a second opinion. Two tries to do an eye exam for glasses and neither pair could I see with. I do have glasses and I see well with them but the lenses are scratched from five years of use. Website listed this as a procedure that was preformed

After two cataract surgeries, Yag and Lasek procedures my vision is worse that when I had cataracts. I was an insult to his opinion of himself . I would strongly advise anyone seeing Dr. Carlson to take another person with them for all appointments as he changes what he is telling you to cover his errors.
