S. Scott Standa's Online Review Report Card

I have seem dr standa for 35 years and has done 2 surgeries for me and checks my feet every 3 months since I am a diabetic and he is absolutely excellent. I very highly would go to see him if I were you. Remember....respect if earner not given. Treat pther peop;le the way you what to be treated. Soon he will be retireing and I will miss him so very much. It is difficult at my age to start all over with a dr I don't know. Bless dr. standa.

don't /REPEAT- DO NOT let this guy touch your feet in surgery. he ruined my foot forever. i woke up in middle of surgery. now 10 yrs later i cant even walk far. AVOID AVOID

I have seen Dr. Standa 3 times in about 8 years and each time walked away informed, cared for and most importantly, relieved of pain. Very nice, caring Doctor.

I had been dealing with pain and swelling in my foot from what we had thought was all being caused by an extra bone in my foot. After months of trying different things to bring down the swelling he did surgery to remove the bone. After my surgery he wasn’t very helpful at all. He didn’t have me do any physical therapy or anything and basically just made me feel like I was crazy and the pain I was having was all in my head. Months after my surgery I kept asking if the pain I was still having was normal after surgery and he would brush me off constantly. I think he assumed right away that I was trying to get pain pills when all I wanted to know was if what I was feeling was normal. The last appointment I went in for I asked him again about all the pain I was experiencing and he then told me that all surgery patients suffer from a form of PTSD and my foot is fine and now my mind just needs to believe it. I left crying. He made me feel crazy. Went to a new doc who did an MRI and it confirmed my tendons are severely swollen and I’m starting Physical therapy now. I only wish I had went with my current doctor first. I’ll never go back to Standa or ever recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Standa, after a brief examination, misdiagnosed my problem. He treated me for an ingrown toe nail, cutting away part of the nail. After several weeks of discomfort, it was clear the diagnosis and treatment were wrong. On a follow-up appointment he acknowledged that he had done more harm than good, but seemed disinterested (perhaps incapable?) of getting to the root of the problem. He struck me as less than diligent in a number of his responses to questions. I can't recommend him.

After a cursory examination of a red, sore toe Dr. Standa immediately decided it was an ingrown toe nail and removed part of the toe nail. He did not even consider other potential diagnoses. His manner was smug and arrogant. After several more very painful weeks, it was clear his surgery was ineffective and served only to aggravate the condition. He recommended I make another appointment, at which time he insisted the problem must be related to something other than podiatry (though he had no idea what) and suggested I see other types of physicians. He appears to have very limited abilities within the field of podiatry and is completely inept if your foot problem does not fall within his very narrow range. He recognized that he had harmed me but offered no apology. I would describe him as devoid of the traits one would hope for in a doctor: integrity, honesty, diligence and respect for the patient. For these reasons, I cannot recommend this doctor.

Dr. Standa misdiagnosed, and proceeded to wrongly treat, what he determined was an ingrown toenail. He came to this conclusion following a very brief examination of not more than a minute. After cutting away the toe nail, he swathed the toe in a bandage at least 2 inches wide so it was quite painful to wear my shoes home. After several weeks, the toe pain, soreness and redness were still present, exactly as they were on my earlier visit. He had the good grace to acknowledge, indirectly, that he had harmed, not helped me. I would not recommend him.

When I called the next day to explain the horrible effects that I experienced and to ask a question about why I was in a great deal of pain, he responded through his nurse. He said that my side effects were not from the shot (as the ER doctor told me) and that if I had concerns about my current pain, I should go and see a different doctor. Was told appt would last 15mins, it lasted 2 hours. Most of that time repeating my medical history nothing to do with my feet. Condescending, did not listen to me at all, no instructions, basically told me my plantar fasciitis is my fault for being blue-collar but was reluctant to write me a note outlining accommodation at work. Dismissed my EDS as not mattering to the diagnosis he gave. Orthotics did not fit. Was told I could get braces before leaving, did not get them. Waste of time!!!
