James Stokman's Online Review Report Card

My name is Charlotte I am an 80 year old woman is who had severe sciatic pain that progressively got worse. My pain was on the top of my right leg and lower part of my back. I received several cortisone shots that were unsuccessful. My little four wheeler became a part of my life. I couldn’t shop or get around without hanging onto my wheeler or the cart. Pain pills became a part of my life. Aitkin Medical sent me to the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Spine Surgery Clinic. Dr. Stokman performed surgery on my spine. He is an amazing doctor and I am pain free. He has given me back my life. Thank you Dr. Stokman and the staff that worked with him.

Like many others I was living an active life when I suddenly developed severe pains (many varieties) throughout my entire left leg to my toes. I had no prior history of back pain. I'm new to the area and now know how lucky I was to find myself under Dr. Stokman's care. Dr. Stokman's evaluations were comprehensive and he thoroughly reviews all imagining so you truly understand what has happened. For me it was stenosis (narrowing of the opening where the nerves go through). It looked like surgery might be the best option. However, we agreed to try other options including interventional pain management by Dr. Horowitz (spinal injections) and physical therapy. Both gave some relief but the pain persisted. Having a spinal fusion turned out to be my best option. I can say you probably won't be having surgery by Dr. Stokman unless it's absolutely necessary. My hospital nursing care experience was amazing along with patient education, PT and OT. I believe my successful surgical outcome was because of a mutual partnership between Dr. Stokman, his team and my following their carefully designed post operative program. Dr. Stokman and his team are truly excellence in action, engaged and compassionate! Dr. Stokman and his team have gotten me back to my former active life!

I have had a significant amount of back surgeries in the past 10 years. Most of them in large cities. Dr Stokman and his entire team ought to be very proud of what they for small town Mn. This fusion (have another one) is the first time I have not had any relief like I do from this surgery. Dr Stokman takes whatever amount of time to explain everything in layman terms. It is also refreshing that he is prompt and has been pretty much time. I can't thank you and your teM for the excellence your team displays.

I wanted a physician that practiced all the latest technologies and would explain everything in detail. I got that and so much more. After one year Iam pain and pill free doing all the activities I could not do before. Iam so happy to have my life back. I would not change a thing.
