Dr. Shaffer listened to all of my concerns and questions, and carefully answered them with clarity and understanding. The MOHS surgery was done quickly and carefully and looks great now that the stiches are out. He is superb at his work!

Dr. Shaffer performed MOHS surgery on me a year ago and again November 2022. It was quick and painless. Healing perfectly. He is the best at this procedure.

Mohs Surgery

Dr Shaffer is one of the best Mohs surgeons in the The Twin Cities. He has done 3 of my Mohs surgery’s with the latest being under my eyebrow! I am amazed that you can hardly tell that I had Basel cell carcinoma there. In a few months you will hardly be able to tell I had surgery at all. Dermatology consultants in Eagan Minnesota is really one of the best! I’m so incredibly happy I found them!!

I wasn't a cancer patient when I needed Dr Shaffer. Still, he treated me as gently & as kindly as if I were. I was referred to Dr Shaffer years after a different dermatologist left me with a painful and ugly sinkhole of scar tissue hanging from my jaw. Scar tissue tightens & it also hurts, & I was constantly contorting my face and my mouth & my neck to stretch out the tightness of the clump at my jaw. The years discomfort, the pain, & the change to my appearance left me depressed. Dr Shaffer treated me with dignity & compassion. Without knowing me personally, Dr Shaffer, a renowned mohs surgeon, agreed to revise a painful mess that he did not create. He treated me like I matter & like I deserved help. He knew that my face would not look or feel perfect again (sort of a losing spot to put himself). He agreed to the very real risks of leaving me dissatisfied & of agitating a fellow dermatologist. He owed me nothing. He was simply being honorable and an actual human. THAT is goodness.

I saw Dr. Joe Shaffer for the first time for a Mohs surgery on my face. It was discovered from a different dermatologist , whom of which I cannot recommend from a different company. Dr Joe has this aura about him that puts you at ease the minute he walks in the room. His confidence and assuring puts you at ease immediately which is very comforting when you’re in a high stress situation of unknowing. For me it was a one and done procedure and at no time did I feel any discomfort. Stitches just came out and looks like it would be a very tiny scar, I’m excited to see how it heals. I give him the highest of recommendations and will continue to see his wife for my skin care.

Dr. Shaffer made the entire dermatology surgery experience a lot easier for me. He was friendly, and he took the time required to explain clearly what he intended to do and to answer my questions. I started my dermatology experience at another practice, but I was referred to Dr. Shaffer for Mohs surgery. I'm sticking with Dermatology Consultants after this positive experience.

Dr. Shaffer recently used the Mohs Procedure to remove skin cancer on my cheek. He explained the procedure thoroughly, was able to remove all cancer and sutured the site expertly. Throughout the entire procedure he described what he was doing, was attentive to my concerns and explained the healing process completely. Hie professional demeanor was warm, courteous and attentive to me as his patient. Together with his Medical Assistant, Jason, I was totally apprised of the entire procedure, my post-op care and ultimate results. I could not have been in better hands. I would want Dr. Shaffer again for any dermatology procedure and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants excellent care.

Dr. Shaffer is the best!! I've had several Mohs surgeries performed by him. He has always, always had the most calming affect on me in what could be a scary situation!! His surgical abilities are amazing!! No one can tell how many procedures have been done on my body - especially my face!! No other surgeon will ever do!!

Excellent! My neighbor suggested Dr Schaffer after I told her what a local dermatologist had planned for the squamous on my face. I was scared. Texted picture to Dr Schaffer, met within a week and was treated (Mohs) and I cannot believe the result. Fantastic! Barely noticeable. Thank you! You are the best!
