Reception: 5/5 Technician: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Doctor: 1/5 TL;DR: Bedside manner is important. If you have a chronic illness, make sure you see Dr. H! My husband and I left our appointments with Dr. Zastrow today feeling embarrassed and frustrated. We came in early, all paper work completed, and with good attitudes. We knew we needed new prescriptions and were open about how we were overdue. Reception and our technician were absolutely lovely!!! But then there was the doctor. I left in tears from a lack of empathy from the doctor. My husband, who is a pretty silent and easy going guy, told me she was not too friendly to him either. Maybe we caught her on a bad day? Maybe she doesn’t know how to talk to people with chronic illnesses? Sometimes doctors have to give bad news. That’s okay. But doing so in such a cold way? Not so much. We saw Dr. Hemann in 2022 and had a friendly and positive experience. We assumed the other doctors would be just as lovely. I really hope we just caught Dr. Z on a bad day. **Update** I see the response from the owner. This response implies that my dissatisfaction with the appointment was due to a lack of understanding/incompetence. This isn’t the case. This dissatisfaction is due to poor delivery of information with a lack of compassion, empathy, and kindness. To me, this shows an unwillingness to care for the whole patient or to listen to feedback. They won’t want me back as a patient and likely won’t call me to try to make it right. But I want to put this warning out there so that other people with chronic conditions can be warned about doctors who don’t understand the nuances of living with a chronic condition or who don’t know how to word bad news with care.
Very helpful and friendly. Made me feel welcome.
Fantastic customer service!! Total lifesaver! Needed a plunger to remove contacts and was able to get one here! We just made it! They closed at 4:00.
Amazing customer service!
Great place, great people.
They have the best customer service and care of any eye doctor I have been to. If you are working in downtown, they are the best place for your eye care needs.
You will not find better service anywhere. You deserve the best, go to Downtown Eyes Minneapolis.
I’ve never had a bad experience here. I’ve been to the Richfield and the downtown Minneapolis locations and had stellar experiences with both. The front desk staff are always friendly and professional, and the doctors are top-notch. I also feel like they have a good selection of frames. They walk you through every step of your insurance coverage, if you have it, and explain your options. Really happy with them.
Great place. Relocated. I like doing business with small and local businesses. Great customer service and staff.
Friendly knowledge staff that makes you feel like they care about you. They are my go to place for vision needs.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
