This building got robbed multiple times due to staff not watching the front desk like they were instructed to and I have proof that I made Katie Muehlen Shaughnessy and others aware of program issues but they didn't offer a concrete solution.

Good care, supportive housing, residents pitch in to make meals, nursing care

Unfortunately, Touchstone Mental Health didn't offer much support, in my experience. Often, the care coordinator was unresponsive to requests for assistance. The care coordinator would become responsive when it was time for them to update their required paperwork; a phone call every 3 months and in-person visit every 6 months. I definitely felt like a number instead of a human being. When I wasn't able to get a hold of the care coordinator, I was transferred to another care coordinator who typically provided other places to try calling for help. I feel like a lot of my limited time, energy, and other resources were wasted, being passed around like a hot potato, trying to find assistance. Then, in the end, the care coordinator unintentionally created significant challenges with my PCA supports due to her misunderstanding of a situation. Instead of first checking with me or other health care workers I work with, the care coordinator made an assumption, ran with it, filing reports with the county. Unfortunately, the situation could've been avoided if they had bothered to make a call or two. Instead, people had to spend a lot of time and energy untangling the resulting mess. If the care coordinator had simply taken more time to build a healthy working relationship, had taken time to look into their concerns to find out if the concerns were valid or reliable, a lot of harm could have been prevented. The reaction of the care coordinator, supervisor, and Touchstone mental health as a organization? Simply shrugging, "Just doing our job." However, because care coordinators for folks experiencing challenges, isn't part of their job to demonstrate professional responsibility to explore concerns, to demonstrate professional judgment, and avoid creating additional barriers and challenges for clients and other healthcare workers who are trying to protect the health, safety, and dignity of people throughout our communities? As clients and healthcare workers, we are people; not numbers. When we experience challenges, we need assistance, even if it isn't convenient or at a time when a care coordinator is required to have a quarterly phone call or semi-annual visit.

As a board member for six years, I learned so much about supporting people on their journey to achieving mental health. Touchstone's holistic approach is centered on individuals' needs, from physical well being, to career services, to managing the complexities of our health care system to get consistent care and services. My dream is that everyone who needs help can get the type of services and support structure that Touchstone provides its clients.

I have been a client of touchstone since the beginning I love the program the only thing I don’t like is I finally get comfortable with a staff member they assign me and with in 6 months to a year I get a new staff member I have had 4 since the beginning of the program

A great staff that is committed to overall wellness. Their programs are focused for adults with mental illness and includes housing, care coordination and fitness/wellness services.
