List of Uptown Vision's Reviews
Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff during every step of the process. The office staff was efficient and welcoming. The vision tech was so kind and quick. Dr. Legg was very thorough and did a great job explaining the results of my exam in an accessible way. As someone who is generally anxious with doctors, could not recommend Uptown Vision more.
Uptown Vision is the best. Years ago, I was part owner of optical stores in South Florida. Thus, I know the good from the bad. Uptown Vision is honest, corrects any lab errors (which is unbelievably common and the bane of every optical business), and offers better prices than the chain stores. In fact, Uptown Vision's prices beat almost everyone in the Twin Cities. Becca, the manager, is a fashion maven who knows what's in style and what fits your face. I am too particular, especially about tints, and Uptown Vision carefully reviews my color choices and shading percentages. Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities.

Everyone from the receptionist to Dr. Legg are wonderfully professional and competent in what they do. Dr. Legg takes the time with you to make you feel you are getting a thorough exam and addressing any questions or concerns. They have a great collection of designer eye wear as well. The best at what they do!
The staff and doctor are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and courteous. All my questions were answered and they made sure I received the most my benefits would allow. It seems like they want me to save money! The entire experience was warm and genuine.
Good professional people. Very good experience.
Great experience! The front desk people were very helpful and nice! My technician explained all things she was doing and Dr Legg was great at giving me a breakdown of my situation and the reason behind my eye issues!
I’ve been seeing Dr.Tamara Legg for the past four years and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She is thorough, knowledgeable, and always takes the time to explain everything clear and reassuring way. I never feel rushed during my visits and she’s really open to listening to any concerns that I have about my prescription and my eye health. The staff is friendly and efficient and scheduling is always smooth whether it’s a routine exam or just a quick question, I know she is looking out for me. If you’re looking for a professional, that is caring and consistent, Dr Legg is outstanding!
The doctor here is very thorough, and the exams themselves feel detailed and professional. That said, the cost is steep—$270 for an exam, which is much higher than many competitors. I felt it was possibly worth it for the depth of the exam, but the pricing definitely stands out. A frustrating issue is that, under Minnesota law, clinics aren’t required to provide pupillary distance (PD), which you need if you want to order glasses elsewhere. If you don’t buy their $800+ glasses, you’ll likely find yourself in the same spot I was: my PD wasn’t included on my prescription, so I had to call and then come back into the office just to get an “unofficial” version. Each time, staff repeated a liability disclaimer about outside glasses—sometimes aggressively, even in front of other customers. Honestly, it felt unnecessary and left me with the impression that they’d rather pressure you into buying from them than provide a simple measurement. To their credit, the space feels woman-friendly and welcoming to elders—as long as you’re making a purchase. But overhearing staff complain about the hassle of giving PD, paired with the high exam cost, soured the experience. Overall: if you value very detailed exams and don’t mind paying more, this could be a good choice. But if you plan to buy glasses elsewhere, you may want to consider a larger shop that’s more straightforward about PD.
This was a wonderful experience. It’s a small clinic in a quiet part of Uptown, with parking in back. They have the latest technology for scanning and examining eyes. Everyone was so nice. Dr. Legg was very thorough and explained everything as she went along. They have a nice selection of contemporary frames as well as the expertise to find just the right style for your face. I highly recommend.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
