Dr Viozzi is a very nice doctor and is very good at his job.

Very pleased with our visit. The staff was knowledgeable and Dr. Viozzi was very good about explaining everything and answering our questions.

We first met Dr. Viozzi when our oldest son had fractured his face in a bicycle accident. Dr. Viozzi did an amazing job putting our son's face back together. Dr. Viozzi later did reconstructive surgery on another son who had major congenital deformities. Again we were impressed with Dr. Viozzi's skills. Since then both my husband and I developed problems which required an oral surgeon. We chose to see Dr. Viozzi! In all our interactions with Dr. Viozzi we experienced him as a caring and knowledgeable physician. He was always willing to explain and discuss procedures with us.

Dr Viozzi was the worst doctor I have ever met at Mayo. I'm shocked that anyone allowed him to work at such a prestigious institution. He minimized my fears, talked down to me, and could not empathize with my anxiety for being sedated/ having the procedure in general. He was degrading and condescending. At one point when I was asking about the medications used for sedation, he stopped me and said "where do you work again?" (I reminded him that I worked in an ICU at Mayo, which I had already told him). He said "sometimes it's hard knowing a little information about a topic." (Insinuating that I was asking questions over my head). Once I got out of his office, I started bawling my eyes out and hyperventilating. I felt humiliated. He made me feel small and insignificant. No doctor should ever make their patient feel this way. At Mayo we believe the patient comes first. In Dr. Viozzi's world, he comes first and he makes sure you know that and feel that. He is a disgrace to Mayo Clinic.

Dr Viozzi was the worst doctor I have ever met at Mayo. I'm shocked that anyone allowed him to work at such a prestigious institution. The resident that was taking my background was awesome and very personable, so I had high hopes for this appointment. Then Dr. Viozzi walked in the room and everything went downhill from there. First of all, he walked in and stated his name and then walked across the room to the window and leaned up against it, crossed his legs, and folded his arms. I already felt uncomfortable by how cold and unfriendly he was. Then he proceeded to talk about my history, but did not make any eye contact with me during this time and pretended like I wasn't even there. I had been to a clinic in Rochester prior to going to Mayo where the surgeon told me that he wasn't comfortable taking me on as a patient because of my asthma and he felt that I would need to be intubated for the procedure. Being an ICU nurse and seeing intubated patients die all the time, makes me absolutely terrified of being intubated. It may be an irrational fear as we see the absolute sickest patients, but regardless I'm terrified of it. I'm also scared of being sedated and wanted to know the medications that were used for sedation and how sedated I would be. He first stated "you don't have to be intubated. Not sure why you thought that but we typically don't intubate for wisdom removal." Then in regards to when I was wondering about sedation medications and how sedated I would be, he stopped me and goes, "where do you work again?" And I told him the ICU I work in at Mayo and he says, "you know sometimes it's hard only knowing a little bit of information on a topic. You guys don't even push Propofol there right?" I was baffled how condescending he was to me, and I informed him that we do in-fact push propofol. The things I do on my unit and the knowledge I have on medications/ physiology/ pharmacology etc aligns very closely with what nurse anesthetists do and the knowledge they have. I could not believe how demeaning this man was without even knowing my background. And regardless of the background I have, I just couldn't believe he would talk to a patient like this. My fears, anxiety, and worries were all very real to me. He tried to minimize what I was feeling and not once acknowledged my fears for what they were or tried to understand/ empathize with what I was going through. I was switched to Dr. Viozzi's care so my procedure date could be moved up. When meeting with him before the scheduled procedure he was very thorough and even asked about my PTSD to make sure he didn't trigger me. After noticing an infection I had was much more severe he decided to postpone surgery for my safety & prescribed me antibiotics. Dr. Viozzi is very caring and understanding- he has his patient's best interest in mind. I've gone to Mayo for years in multiple departments & he's the best.

Outstanding care. He listens and he hears you. Personable, informative, and highly skilled. All you need from medical care provider. And Mayo staff was first rate start to finish.

Dr Viozzi was very professional yet friendly. I felt comfortable having him do my procedure and will look him up again if another is needed.

Great customer service. Genuine confidence that is deserved. Provides a hopeful message and a good sense of humor. Excellent surgeon. took the time to explain the procedure in detail.
