List of Eugene D. Kwon's Reviews
I am writing to express my deep and abiding gratitude for the superb care I have received from Dr. Kwon and his team. Nearly five years ago I was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer, I was gravely I’ll and was in a great deal of pain. From the moment I met Dr. Kwon I felt that I was in good hands which greatly reduced my anxiety level. The fact that my PSA has been reduced from an astronomical 3120 to .48 is testimony to the quality of care I have received, I would unequivocally recommend him to anyone who needs first class care. I always look forward to my meetings with Dr.Kwon as he is very personable, is highly educated and has a fine sense of humor which combine to express his truly humanitarian nature.
I AM A 25 YEAR CANCER SURVIVOR OF PROSTRATE CANCER HAVING BEEN DIAGNOSED AT AGE 58. DURING MY CANCER JOURNEY DR KWON HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PHENOMINAL. HE HAS BEEN AVAILABLE FOR CONSULTATION, ADVISE AND QUESTIONS PRESENTED TO HIM. ALWAYS HAVING TIME FOR EXPLANATION OF TREATMENTS AVAILABLE. HE IS NUMBER 1.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011 at age 63. My PSA had been 2.0 for many years. Annual exam In October 2011 showed PSA 2.83. Biopsy showed prostate cancer and I underwent a prostatectomy in January 2012. All margins were clear. However, testing during 2012 showed PSA gradually increasing to 0.15 by December. The only treatment locally available to me was radiation therapy of the prostate bed with no technology to actually determine if cancer was present in this area. I declined and my local urologist referred me to the Mayo Clinic where I met Dr. Kwon in December 2012. Dr. Kwon advised to have no treatment and continue PSA monitoring. If PSA reached a level of 1.0 the Mayo Clinic had the PET scan technology to detect the location of any cancer. By October 1, 2020 my PSA had increased to 1.3. A PET scan determined that prostate cancer had metastasized to my L-5 vertebrae. Successful radiation therapy was administered at Mayo and routine PSA monitoring continues.
I want to first give a big thank you to Dr. Kwon and his team. I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer at 58 years old. This diagnosis after having physicals every year and having no symptoms was a shock. Then to find the right doctor for treatment was not an easy journey. Dr. Kwon was not the first doctor that I sought an opinion from but from our first meeting I knew he was the one I wanted in my corner as I fought this battle. He is passionate about finding the best approach for your cancer not just the standard one. Hope is a huge aspect in a person’s battle with cancer and to have a doctor and his team instill that in their patients is rare. Dr. Kwon's intelligence, a drive to find the best treatment, a caring attitude and a down to earth approach make him second to none. My last scan showed no active cancer and I owe this to Dr. Kwon and his team. I still have treatments to go through, but I have hope. My family and I thank you Dr. Kwon!
My husband has been in Dr. Kwon's care since 2014. We have recommended him highly to numerous people. He is very knowledgeable, attentive to everything involved in the care of his patients and caring. We have been very thankful for all that he has done for us.
Mayo, Kwon and his team lead the way in harnessing the newest technology and treatments to benefit their patients' quality of life. But what makes Kwon phenomenal is his intellectual curiosity that keeps him seeking where the cancer is, in your body. In 2007, at 55, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had a radical prostatectomy. In 2011 we traveled 400 miles to visit Dr Kwon seeking hope as cancer had returned. Since 2011 cancer has been detected early in the abdomen, lymph nodes, near the wind pipe, in the hip and pelvis, on the lung, and in his chest by the new technologies. Many of the treatments you have read about have been used to offer my husband a quality life of work, golf, and enjoying the love of 4 grandkids (3 born since 2011). When appts run late someone is receiving tough news and Kwon is caring for that patient; as he will care for you on your tough days. Kwon, a physician and scientist, seeks the nature of prostate cancer to offer a quality life.
I was given 6-10 years to live with stage 4 prostate cancer here in Buffalo, NY. I went to see Dr. Kwon and after he reviewed all of my previous tests with me, he told me that my condition was curable. It has been 10 months of treatment with Dr. Kwon and his team (including Dr. Davis) and I am now cancer free. It will take a year to get off all of the meds and continual monitoring using scans, etc. for the rest of my life. This result would not have been possible without Dr. Kwon and his team. They really are amazing. The Mayo Clinic offers patient-oriented care that is unmatched. God Bless them all (at the Mayo Clinic) for helping me and my family during this difficult time in my life.
I first had my prostate removed in 2007, at Mayo. After recurrence, I underwent radiation, but by 2013 the cancer came back and was stage 3. After 6 rounds of chemo, experimental as only a handful of oncologists would do it...I got better, but psa never went to zero. Then a new tumor so Mayo, under the leadership of Dr. Kwons team, worked with Dr. Mynderse and Dr. Woodrum and they tried cryo-ablation....it worked!! But my cancer still persisted. So another round of chemo, then 4 more cryo-ablations, with hormone treatments and a few others...they all worked, but so did my cancer. I am doing pluvicta now...PMSA...liquid radiation. Had the first treatment on Dec 22...and today, Jan. 2, 2023...I feel stronger...noticable!!! Dr. Kwon and his team have kept me alive...its AMAZING!!
My husband, Marty, has been fighting prostate cancer for 12 years and he is alive because of Dr. Kwon and the team at Mayo Clinic. We live 30 minutes from NYC and famous medical centers but found that Mayo in Rochester, MN is superior. Dr. Kwon is a prostate cancer specialist and has full access to extensive, cutting-edge teams of surgeons, radiologists, imagining specialist, and other top-flight professionals that truly collaborate to provide the best cancer-curing solution for you. Where you go for your care is critical and Dr. Kwon and the team at Mayo are outstanding.
I presented in 2012 with a 5.6 PSA after proton beam therapy failure, and after local urologists couldn’t find anything wrong. My proton MD then recommended Dr. Kwon, who was using C11 Choline with PET scans to locate nodes of prostate cancer. His scans located nodes throughout my torso and he set up a course of treatment that today, ten years later, has eliminated all those nodes without compromising my active lifestyle. Further, he keeps me on recurring PET scans, believing that prostate cancer can rear its ugly head asymptomatically and must be extinguished at the first sign, before symptoms occur. I highly recommend Dr. Kwon for his state-of-the-art knowledge and his view that cancer must be dealt with aggressively, and killed. He’s also very personable and a man of good humor. You’ll be in good hands.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
