List of Harold B. Kitaoka's Reviews
Why in information about Dr. Kitaoka is he referred to as "They"?
He has provided incredible care of my feet since I was 18 years old after my pediatric doctor, Dr. Hamilton Peterson. I have been with the mayo clinic family basically from birth and will continue as long as I need to.
I guess I expected more after driving 8 hours round trip for this consult. Bedside manner was atrocious. Honestly, his PA/NP was way more helpful than he was. It was clear he had not reviewed my history/MRI/x-ray. I've been dealing with my issues for 18 months, so I know a little bit about what's going on. When I expressed what I thought was going on, it was met with frustration on his end. At the end, he bizarrely walked out of the room with little closure on what to do next. Thought he was going to come back in but never did. Was expecting more from a "mayo experience." Even if issues persist, I wouldn't go back to see him.
Very underwhelmed with the experience with Dr. Kitaoka. He was an hour late. He was very short with me when I was explaining what was going on and what I had tried. Abruptly left the appt with very little direction on what to expect and what the next steps were. Would not go back to see him.
Dr. Kitaoka seemed very uninterested in my experience with this injury over the past 18 months and seemed very unprepared based on the previous notes, MRI, x-rays that had been sent over. Horrible bedside manner. Abruptly left the room with no closure or direct instructions on what to do or to expect. Was a very strange visit. The Mayo system is incredible but this guy didn't seem to get it. Very underwhelmed.
Always impressed by the Mayo Clinic care system.
Dr. Harold is Kitaoka is an embarrassment to the Mayo Clinic organization and is also a compulsive liar. He refused to treat my plantar plate injury and didn't even bother to offer a different solution to the problem. He claimed I was fine even though an outside MRI has confirmed the injury and it is operable. No empathy was offered at all. Additionally, he has zero personality and is a very angry and hateful man. He talked down to the resident doctor that was working under him like he was his servant. He also seemed very homophobic after I mentioned that I was gay during the office visit. AVOID him at all costs!
Had a really bad experience with the Dr. I came to Mayo Rochester traveling from another country to get an expert opinion on a foot injury, and what I got was the doctor leaving the room. I got to my appointment and had my x-rays done before my meeting with Dr. Kitaoka, when he comes to the room he doesn’t even says hello, I had sent all my history regarding my foot something the doctor had not even seen before coming in, when he gets in he starts asking questions about my history exactly the same things I had already sent previously, then he and examines my foot. Afterwards he tells me he cannot see the x-rays because of a server problem and also he had not seen my previous x-rays, CT scans and MRI’s. And so just by touching my foot he gives me a recommendation which is totally absurd, I tell him I travel a long way and spend a lot of money to get this kind of attention because he didn't see any images and he cannot recommend something without examining all the history, he gets upset and leaves the room telling me I can reprogram an appointment even knowing I don't live Here and for me is a expense to come again. Totally disappointed at his profesional treatment and recomendation!
He did a physical exam that was more like a torture test than what a doctor should be doing. I was about jumping off the couch as he pressed hard on joints to my feet and ankles to see how much it hurt. Was so over the top- I will never see him again and recommend no one else does either.
Very bad & rude doctor. No time with me at all. Mix up all the information given to him. Did not want to listen to me. Rude ! No treatment plan & really no time with me at all. I am an old man & I have never ever seen anything like this doctor. I will never return to Mayo Clinic Foot & ankle department. I went to my regular M.D. & got help & treatment I need after visiting this Mayo Clinic rudest man. STAY AWAY from this M.D.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
